“Whoa. Dude, come check this out.” Parker leaned forward to stare out the same window Eddie was gawking out of. A sign-bearing crowd was visible from the few hundred feet they had left until they landed in the Florida Airport. They could tell the inside wasn’t going to be any better.
“Are these pro- or Anti-FBI?” Valerie asked.
“Likely a little of both, more of the anti-Government stuff, though,” Vaughn answered. He didn’t bother looking up from his tablet to gawk at the ever growing crowd with the rest of his team. He’d seen it before; this likely wasn’t going to be the last time, either. There are many out there who hate the government and would rather every member go to hell than help their state in a time of need.
“Don’t forget to smile!” Simone mumbled as they disembarked.
Eddie and Parker made sure to smile along with their spokesperson, but the others remained cold-faced as usual whenever citizen’s eyes or a camera was directed at them. It was never an easy thing for most to be able to control their emotions believably to what someone else wants them to be.
“Who are we supposed to meet here?” Victoria asked.
“A Detective Swank.”
“Like Hillary Swank?” Valerie asked excitedly.
Vaughn rolled his eyes. “Sure. Like Hillary Swank.”
“How many Brazilians do you think are in that crowd?” Parker asked.
Eddie shrugged. “Who knows, man? Could be one, could be half, could be none at all.”
“Hope there’s a hot one in there waiting to wrap her arms around some sexy chocolate FBI man!” Parker rubbed his hands together at the exciting thought.
“Coming you two?” Simone asked, holding the door open for them. They hurried back to the front of the Unit. They found it was best to have the two most attractive males in the lead, followed by Valerie and Victoria, with Vaughn, Mitch and Simone, bringing up the rear, respectively. People tend to be a little more respectful if their first impression of the FBI was pleasant to the eyes, and also finished with the same kind of pleasantness.
“Where did he say he was meeting us?” Vaughn whispered. Simone couldn’t hear him over the noise the mob was making once they entered the airport. The unit leader cleared his throat and repeated his question.
“Hm? Oh, she said she’d be waiting in the Crown Room for Delta members. They’ve left it empty specially for us. Somehow they knew we’d be welcomed by a vicious crowd,” she answered.
Eddie and Parker led the way to the room. Upon entering, their eyes happened upon a beautiful pair of perfectly shaped legs. Their awestruck eyes followed the contours of the calf, up the thigh, and pausing long enough to take in what they considered to be an amazing view of the woman’s behind. It wasn’t proper, especially not when they were supposed to be professionals on a case, but it was the best legs they’d ever seen before.
“Get a good look?” Victoria asked.
“Almost… aaand now we’re good!” The men grinned, high-fived and hurried inside. She shook her head, biting her lips so she didn’t snap at them in front of so many people. Mitch gently brushed his hand against hers, pulling her inside and letting go before anyone else noticed the motion.
“You okay?” he asked. She nodded. “Don’t let them get to you, Vicki. Okay?”
“Okay,” she nodded. He winked before turning around to sit at the table with the rest of the team. Her heart fluttered in her chest a little more. As much of a hard-ass as she could be, Mitch was the only one who could ever bring the softness out of her.
