In the Mirror

I looked in the mirror and

Could have sworn I'd seen your face

Perhaps that's because I went to bed

With your words echoing in my head

It's been a long time

Since I've been in your shoes

Yet your words took me back

To when I too sung the blues

Although years apart

You and I may be

There is something I know

With absolute certainty

Your voice is strong

Those others are wrong

Let mine instead

Play in your head

Your beauty shows

In the words you chose

It's time to shine

Let them whine

Let them laugh

And have their fun

Know in this life

It is you who have won

For in this life

I know what's in store

For someone like you

Who knows she wants more

Who's chosen to live

And not just exist

Shoo them away

With a flick of your wrist

Keep them wondering why

No matter what they try

You keep on smiling

As you pass them by

Here is your secret

Which I have learned

And now give to you

Your world is filled with dreams

Of which you will be led

You will accomplish so much more

If you just keep your head

Those voices will be there

Never giving you care

But they matter not

For they do not dare

Go into the darkness

Where at times you may dwell

For they are not strong enough

To live the story, You need to tell
