I try to remember
It's about you
Not me
But that's hard to do
When on the receiving end
Of the anger you feel
Because of something I said
Or something I've done
That reminds you
Of that other someone.
Never would I
disrespect you
neglect you
take you for granted
All that in your head
Someone else has implanted
I only argue
Because of what may be said
For I can't agree
That what you say is true
Even if it's not about me
and is about you
Never would I
Think less
Take advantage
Blame you for the mess
But I'll manage
When you wish to vent
And I'm the only one here
The only one near
The only one
who no matter what is said
You know won't disappear
I just ask if I come to mind
In your heart you find
The friend you loved
Instead of
The enemy you created
A role I seem
forever fated
To play
My only wish
I pray, is
that you'll figure
That out
Someday.
