I don't think I'm able to hear his answer.

The heartbeats my heart made was loud and clear in my ears, another drip of cold sweat strolled down my cheeks, and I was stiffened right in front of the altar.

He's going to answer it, he's going to answer it.

"Taylor...get lost," He said, sending a stinging pain in my heart. "You're ruining everything for me."

Everyone's voice was muffled purposely, probably whispering about Asher's cruelty in answering me. In the corner of my eye, his father was chuckling silently with a small smirk curving his chapped lips.

With a stern gaze, he said, "You shouldn't have agreed to our deal if you turn out to cancel it. You should've listened to my words and you could've understood more. Finally, you're ruining my wedding."

I felt my eyes getting watery, but I blinked to prevent it from escaping. I needed to hold back my cries and profanities. I just wanted to go back and cry and 'unleash my hell' in front of Damien, as he promised me if it went terrible.

I whirled around, wanting to leave. I took a few steps passing Serena, but my wrist was grabbed. Serena pulled me to face her and hissed, "If you're already here, might as well sit there and watch."

Knowing that I couldn't rebel against her in the wedding, I decided to prove myself strong. I took a seat and folded my arms as some gazes were fixed on me. This was a torture, she's trying to get her revenge.

The bride continued to walk until she reached the altar with the music playing along. As soon as she stood right next to Asher, the music stopped. The officiant, standing behind the altar, said with a few stuttering, "D-Dearly beloved, we a-are gathered here today to witness the joining of these t-two lives."

I winced at the voice at that officiant, those words were poison to my ears because I wasn't there as the bride. He faced Serena and said, "Do you take Asher to be your husband? Do you promise to love, honor, cherish and protect him, forsaking all others and holding only unto him?"

A small devious smirk appeared on her face and she glanced back at me, she said, "I do."

The officiant turned to Asher and repeated the same question, "Do you take Serena as your wife? Do you promise to love, honor, cherish and protect her, forsaking all others and holding only unto her?"

He was definitely going to say 'I do', he just turned me down for goodness sake. I mentally deafened my ears, I didn't want to hear him say those two simple words, three letters. I closed my eyes, cringing at the thought.

There was a long pause and he finally said, "I...don't."

I shot my eyes open almost immediately, staring at Asher in shock. Loud gasps spread throughout the church, followed with whispers and profanities—although we're in a church.

Serena shot her daggers at me and Asher at the same time, switching back and forth. On the other hand, Asher didn't twitch and kept a bemused face expression. He said, "I won't take Serena as my wife. I won't love, honor, cherish and protect her. I won't forsake all others and I won't hold only unto her."

I stared at the event unraveling in front of me with a pair of widened eyes, feeling all of my body frozen in place. Why did he refuse the marriage if he turned me down? Did he have someone else or was he just acting rebelliously?

He whirled around, facing the audience with a bemused face. He walked down the small staircase from the altar and walked nearer to where I was sitting. I avoided his gaze, not wanting to meet him in the eye. He walked a few footsteps more and stopped right beside me, he let out his hand and I stared back at him. He gave me a warm smile and said, "I'm sorry, but we really should get going before we're chased down."
