It's awful to say that I lost their trust just because of my internship. I could've lost Asher's trust too, I didn't even bother tell him about where my internship was going to be. What have I done?

I cowered underneath their stunned gazes, I could feel the sternness of all of it. I did something wrong, GK Insurance definitely wasn't one of their allies. If it were, why would they look at me like that?

I cleared my throat and said nervously, "Umm, did I say anything wrong?"

I knew I had said something wrong, I just wanted an explanation. It was a stiff silence for a moment, before his mother responded, "N-No, we're j-just surprised."

I didn't quite believe that, it became more awkward. It's just an internship for goodness sake.

I guess it wasn't, it was something more.

I eyed the pudding as Asher's father stood up from his seat, leaving the dining hall without any glance back. I stared back at Asher, feeling guilty. He was stunned too, a bit too much.

His mother cleared her throat, tucking a few strands of her hair behind her ears. She said, "It's l-lovely to have y-you here, Asher will s-show you out."

Before I could respond, she bolted out of the dining hall almost instantly. I asked Asher, "What the heck is wrong with them?"

He winced slightly, I was taken aback with surprise. He turned to look at me and said, "I'll explain it later, just not tonight."

"Why?" I asked him, it was bizarre and unfair. It was as if I had just sinned deeply.

He repeated, "I'll explain later. Trust me on this, okay?"

I took the time to register his puppy face and let out a sigh. He's killing me with those eyes, I couldn't resist. I said, "Okay."

He exhaled a sigh of relief, breaking into a wide grin. He said, "For now, I'll walk you home."

I knew something was wrong, because I hadn't seen Asher for a week. I didn't even see him in school, I couldn't even meet up with him. At most times, he wouldn't answer my calls and if he did, he was always busy and he couldn't talk. I knew it had something to do with the company I was planning to have my internship in, it was an obvious reason.

He couldn't probably avoid me merely because of that, right?

I switched on my laptop, blinded by the screen light for a second. I clicked open the internet browser, bashing my fingers on the keyboard.

GK Insurance, what history do you have with my boyfriend?

I rolled my eyes at the typical sight of a businessman giving the viewers a thumbs up, scrolling down for interesting batch of news. It was nothing really, just promotions and useless stuff.

I let out my arms in exasperation, closing the laptop. I had no clue, nor I could even stand a chance in solving this mystery. What was I saying, I wasn't even a homicide detective.

I think I need Damien.

I sighed at the ongoing rings of my phone, he wasn't picking up. That's when, a 'hello' chimed in.

"Damien!" I squealed childishly, I knew a goofy grin was plastered on my face.

"Yeah, what's up?" He asked me in a monotoned voice, I was hit with a slight disappointment.
