"Hey, could you pass me that file?" A woman with thick spectacles asked me from the cubicle beside mine, eyeing me in a deadpan sort of glare.
I let out a silent sigh as I took the file she wanted, handing it over to her. I heard her mumbling 'thanks' and went back to whatever she's doing next door. I, too, was entirely busy on my first day of internship, smashing my fingers on the keyboard rapidly. I sat slouchily, my face not that far away from the eye-aching screen of the computer.
"Intern, please get us some coffee from next door!" Someone called me, totally ignoring how busy I was. "We'll have five black coffee with no creamer and whole loads of sugar, three lattes with extra cream, one hot jasmine tea, and two cappuccinos!"
I smashed my fingers on the keyboard for the last time and hopped out of the office chair, saying, "Alright!"
Apparently, I received money from the woman beside me and bolted out of the office. I ran recklessly, ignoring the busy environment that's shooting daggers at me. I was running, so they weren't pleased. I ran into the elevator, leaning against the wall in a short moment of pausing. I pressed the ground level button and waited patiently and calmly.
I watched the numbers changing, humming along to a song I didn't even know the lyrics to which was playing in the elevator. I got agitated with the beeps when each floor passed by, I didn't like it so much. That's when I heard the right beep, my floor. I jumped out of the elevator and bolted out of the building, overwhelmed by the scorching air around me.
I rushed to a coffee shop, barging in like a lunatic. However, no one noticed because they're too busy with their orders, hectic busy. It could be a public rebellion, because everyone was screaming for their orders. I shoved through the crowd, even though I got shoved back. I had to get back, I needed to be impressive.
"Hey, queue up, girl!" Someone yelled at me angrily, but I had decided it was hopeless. I turned around and shoved my way towards the exit, escaping like I had just escaped a horrible death.
I looked around for any signs of coffee shops, especially coffee and caffeine. I spotted one across the street, looking rather smaller and less crowded. I bolted towards it instantly, ignoring the honks I was getting from agitated car drivers. I ran and ran, until I leaped away from a luxurious car that's too close for my liking. I shrieked in distress, "Watch it, asshole!"
I gritted my teeth and clenched my fists as I ran to the other side of the street, barging into the coffee shop. I was met with a calm atmosphere, only hearing serene clinking and chuckles. I staggered in a way towards the counter and recited the order, with an extra green tea latte just for me. Then, my cellphone rang. I fished out the cellphone and answered, "Hello?"
"Princess, how about a date to the park today?" I smiled at his voice, but I had to unfortunately decline it. I told him, "I'm sorry, I can't today."
"Why not?" He asked me, I could imagine him cocking an eyebrow.
"I'm looking for job offers." I lied, but I knew he would leave me alone for this.
"You can just work on my company, y'know?" He suggested, probably hoping for a 'yes'.
I said, "No, it's fine, Asher."
I gave the cashier the money and took off with the coffee in my hands. I didn't know caffeine could seep through and send its energy effect. Just kidding.
"Well, alright." He finally said, I heard a disappointed sigh. "Good luck, my love."
"Love you." I said, before ending the call in a haste. I quickly ran and ran, even still running on spot in the elevator. I reached the fifteenth floor and rushed into the office, going back to where I came from. The thing was...it was still hectic as ever, but I couldn't fathom how everyone had a startled look on their faces.
