"You're always in a fight, it hurts me to witness this every time." I said, gently applying a band-aid over a cut on his cheekbone area.
He smirked. I marveled at his guts to even smirk at me right now. I stared into his chivalrous jade orbs firmly, but I couldn't find some sort of wicked tease inside them. He said, "I'm happy you do."
I shot him a glare, finding strength to sit right next to him. I had ceased him from fighting and brought him into my hotel room, away from the commotion. I felt the soft cloth hugging my thighs, but it's all wrinkled now. I let out a sigh and it didn't go unnoticed. Asher asked, "Why do you look so beautiful today?"
"I can ask why you're here." I replied harshly, obviously infuriated with the fight that occurred between my lover and my boss. It was not going to turn out well for me.
He let out a hearty chortle, his fingers grazing his chiseled jaw. He told me, "It's supposed to be a surprise, so...surprise?"
I stared bemusedly at his smirking face, hitting him in the arm. He whimpered in pain all of a sudden. I did something bad. I asked him worriedly, "Oh gosh, did I hurt you? I'm so sorry–"
I contorted a weird face when he laughed. I pressed my lips into a thin, grim line when I realized. I said, "You're kidding me."
He only lifted the corners of his lips into a smile and tucked a few loose strands of hazel hair behind my ear. I froze at his touch, but my cheeks were blazing red like fire. His thumb was left lingering, caressing my crimson cheek. He said, "Your blushes are cute, y'know."
I had never meant to act this way, but my cheeks had gone into a few shades redder than a peach face. I said, "Tell me why y-you're really here."
His face went pale and forlorn, but the bright glint in his jade orbs remained still and vivid. He lifted his hand up to scratch the back of his neck nervously. He said, "I'm...worried, that's all, and maybe miss you?"
But, he didn't know where I was staying—not that I didn't want him to know. He couldn't possibly just show up without any help or contact. I asked him, "How did you find this place?"
"It's where Krett took her..." He faltered away, looking even more forlorn. "Funny, her room was right next to this one."
I somewhat felt uneasy all of a sudden, but it wasn't the fact that Anna stayed in a room next to my room. It was the hotel room where Penelope staying now.
"Where did you get that dress?" Asher asked me, suddenly eyeing the gown that I was wearing seriously. His face paled again, but he wasn't like this a moment ago. His hand reached out to the hems of my gown, the shoulder part. His thumb made circular movements on the silky, pink cloth. I glanced at it and a ripped hole was imprinted on the pink cloth.
I was unsure but I answered, "Penelope gave it to me."
I was now concerned, because his face paled another shade of ill white. I said, "What's wrong?"
He looked away for a moment, yet his eyes were still widened and not blinking. He muttered, "It's the exact same dress Anna wore."
I glanced back at the hole again, it seemed like it's burnt. I said, "That can't be, she bought it for me just this afternoon."
He didn't look convinced, so he merely examined the dress again. He said, "At first, I thought that you just bought a dress that is similar. But, you said you bought it just hours ago and that burnt hole is not supposed to stain a newly bought dress."
