Sirens

Chapter 1 My Story

    My name is Talia Pulse, and I am a siren, well a siren to be. Basically, a siren is a creature that draws men in with their beauty and then, well, eats them. That's how I was born, my moyher tricked a guy into thinking she was in love with him, then when she found out she was pregnant with me she ate him. Now I guess it's my turn to do the same. You see, on a siren's 16th birthday you have your first human to complete the siren transformation. In other words to become one of us you eat a human on your sweet 16. We embrace our evilness and love what we do, well except for me. I don't want to be a monster, I never did. My birthday is in a week and I really don't want to complete the transformation, but if I don't do it, the others, including my mother, will have to kill me. Kindess and goodness is not allowed here. It never has been. I hope this week goes by really slow!
     "So what are you going to do?" asked my friend Sarah today at school. "Your birthday is in a week!" I've been friends with Sarah since preschool, so when I found out that I was a siren when I was 13, I had to tell Sarah. We tell each other everything. "I don't know yet" I replied. "I'll think of something." That's all I thought about for the rest of the day.
   After school I met up with my boyfriend Lucas. I'm not supposed to have a boyfriend, but I didn't expect Lucas to come into my life. Every guy at my school wants to be my boyfriend. I'm a siren which means I'm enchantingly beautiful. I have blonde hair and emerald green eyes, I'm the perfect height. Who could possibly resist me? Well Lucas did at first, he was different. This is because he is a siren hunter, trained to kill us and to not fall into our evil charms. Every villain needs an enemy and he was mine. He was sent to this school to kill me before I completed my transformation. He jumped on me one day right as I got into the woods on the way to my house. "My name is Lucas Wells and I am here to kill you!" he screamed at me while pinning me to the ground. "Dude what is your problem? What did I ever do to yo?" I cried. "Oh please, I know what you are, Talia Pulse!" he stabbed me in the leg and then kicked me in my side, obviously making my death slow and painful. "Just kill me!" I cried "Make it quick! Please!" He was shocked at first. "Wait you want me to kill you?" he asked. So I told him everything, how I didn't want to be evil or hurt anyone. With this information he let me go, and soon after he became my boyfriend. Now he may have no other choice to kill me.
"Hey" I said as he approached me at my locker. "We need to talk." he replied. Just like that it was over. He said he was leaving town because no matter what I choose to do he would be in pain. If I choose to be good, the sirens will kill me. If I choose to be bad, Lucas has no other choice but to stab me in the back, literally. I hate neing a monster!
    On my way home I started to cry. Siren's aren't allowed to cry because it shows signs of weakness, but I just couldn't help it! When I got home my mother asked me what was wrong and I was so upset that I accidentally told her everything. "Talia Annabelle Pulse!" she yelled. "How dare you say these things! You had a boyfriend!? You were crying!? What is wrong  with  you? I don't understand. I do however know that you will become a siren, and you will not disappoint me! Do you understand?" I nodded and stopped crying. My mother left and slammed my door shut. She will only love me if I follow in her footsteps and become one of them. So I'm running away.
