Carnivals are the best ! Especially the ones held in winter !

*Flashback*

"You look chick",muttered an unmistakable voice in my ear as I stood there with Amy waiting for the others.
"And you look handsome. You always do",I said with a smirk turning around watching him throw his head back and laugh.

Games,food,dance,karaoke and the usual followed suit. The fun things that usually happen in a carnival. But I loved the fact that he was by my side throughout. Ron. My Ron.

The loud ring of my cellphone shook me as I made my way back home. Ron wanted to drop me but I refused because he was having fun and I did not want to spoil it. But Ron obviously, would have been more than happy to accompany me home.
"You reached right ? Man ! I was so scared you would get kidnapped. How would I live then ?", he pretended to wail as I smiled.

*Flashback ends*

"There there girl. Don't zone out ", Janice said patting my back dramatically as I smirked at her.
The carnival this year was as crowded as last but oh ! So much more different. A while later, as we walked on the road, I saw a pair of eyes intently gazing at me from across the road. And did I notice .....guilt?

When some people are guilty for what they did, all they can do is stare.
Yes .. It was too late now.

*A while later*

I felt the familiar pang of lonliness hit me as I walked home. Did I expect my phone to ring ? Did I expect that unmistakable voice on the other end asking me how am I doing? I dug my hands deeper into my pockets.
Then, the loud ringtone of ny cellphone shook the silence of the cold evening. I picked it up without thinking twice.
"H-Hello?"
"Hey ! Was wondering if you reached. Man .. Who would trouble me if you get kidnapped?", I gasped at the familiarity of the conversation.
"Oh Amy!", I said in relief,"who would kidnap me ?"
And then I listened to her blabber absolute nonsense as I walked back.

Yes. They were what you call friends. And friends don't ditch you. Do they?
