"Already, Ashton? You've been at the school for one week!" Luke signed before crossing his arms. Luke left school to pick Ashton up from his, after getting told Ashton had gotten in a fight.

Ashton's parents couldn't pick him up, they were across the country for business. Just like every other day Ashton would get sent home from school. He would text his best friend, and get lectured by him. Ashton was sent home a lot, suspended a lot. It wasn't that he was a bad person or anything, his heart was too big and his fists were too strong.

"Some guy was being a douche, he deserved it." Ashton shrugged, walking with Luke to his car.

"You can't just punch people whenever you feel like it!" Luke widened his eyes, and Ashton ran a hand through his hair.

"I know, mom." He gestured before rolling his eyes, and getting into Luke's car.

"Damn right, son." Luke told him before starting the car, and pulling out of the parking lot.

The ride was silent, considering Luke couldn't use his hands to talk to Ashton. Luke was a cautious driver, while Ashton on the other hand was loud and reckless.

Luke pulled into Ashton's driveway a few minutes later, and they made their way into the house. Lauren looked up from the couch, waving a hello before going back to her tv show.

Luke and Ashton met through Lauren. The two went to the same school- Charlestown School for the Deaf- and Ashton picked her up everyday. Luke and Ashton bonded quickly, and it was easy because the curly boy already knew how to sign. Luke quickly became a brotherly figure for Lauren, Ashton, and his younger brother, Harry.

The two walked into the kitchen, throwing their backpacks on the counter and sighing.

"Just control yourself next time, okay?" Luke's expressions was softer, and Ashton nodded.

But Luke had no idea he had just defended the mute boy he cared about so much.
