"Calum was so many things. He was a brother, a boyfriend, a best friend, a son. He wasn't just Calum. He was so many things rolled up into one amazing person." Ashton read Michael's messy handwriting. Michael wiped the tears from his eyes and sniffled, looking down at the casket in front of him.

"He wasn't my best friend. He was my family. He was my brother, he was the closest person to me. And he risked his life for me like the stupid guy he was. The stupid, brave, Calum Hood."

Tears raced down Michael's rosy cheeks as he laid his hands on the casket of his best friend.

"I remember he always told me he was going to get me through it. He was going to be with my after graduating high school, he told me after college. He told me he would help me through everything. He didn't tell me how to help myself through his death." Ashton's voice was shaky as he read Michael's words. His hands were vibrating, his nose stuffy and eyes watery.

"I will forever love Calum Hood as my brother. I'll never forget him." Ashton's voice quivered, and Michael couldn't bear the pain anymore.

He fell to his knees, staring at the coffin with wide, teary eyes.

"Please come back, Calum. Please, I need you so much. You promised me we were friends for life. You promised me, Calum." Michael prayed in his head, and Luke rushed over to him.

"Thank you for the words, Michael." Calum's mother sniffled. She looked at Michael with teary eyes, staring at the pale face of her other son. Not by blood, but by love.

Luke tugged at Michael to get up, but Michael refused. He couldn't leave his best friend to be buried six feet underground.

Luke pulled Michael up, wrapping his arms from around him and pulling him back from the casket. Ashton helped hold Michael back, the boy crying and opening his mouth as someone would if they were screaming in agony.

He turned around, his eyes wild. Luke pressed a kiss to his forehead, pulling him closer to him. Michael sobbed, wrapping his arms around the taller boy.

Ashton turned around to see Calum being lowered into the grave. Little by little, they buried him. They buried Calum.

Calum was dead.

Ashton's eyes started to water again, the pain in his chest overflowing with sorrow.

Ashton walked up to the grave, and sat down on the wet grass.

"Why did you leave me, Calum?" Ashton whispered, tracing his finger over the tombstone engraved with the younger boy's name.

"Was it because I didn't tell you how much I loved you? Was it because you knew I was afraid to fall for you?" Ashton's voiced cracked.

"You know I would've taken that bullet for you, right? I would make that decision in a heartbeat." He whispered, tears falling onto the already wet ground.

"Although I don't think my hearts beating without you anymore." Ashton brought his knees to his chest, sitting in silence waiting for Calum to respond.

Calum never shuts up. He's a chatterbox, especially around Ashton.

"Just say something back, please Calum. I can't do this without you."
