The two wolves faced each other, growling loudly; I sat up, wrapping my arms around my knees for comfort. The shadows circled me, rousing in anticipation for the fight. I watched on, waiting for the first move. Greyson pounced, his claws slicing through the air as he landed on top of the black wolf; a loud roar ripped through the black wolf, sending shivers down my spine from the sheer power permeating from the wolf.

The black wolf shook him off, baring his deadly teeth; Greyson picked himself up, staggering into a low crouch. They were snarling, spit flying everywhere; a cold wave was coming closer, riding the excitement in the air. I didn't know what to do, where to go. The wolves clashed, biting and lashing out at any part of the body they could; the black wolf gripped at Greyson's side, digging his sharp teeth into the rough skin. Greyson yelped, folding his body back to try and dislodge the wolf; the black wolf held on, chomping his teeth further in.

I found my feet, trembling deep in the core of my body; the shadows still circled me, forming a large black band closing me in. I needed to do something, to get away from this madness. Greyson growled lowly, kicking his back legs out and catching the wolf in the stomach; they stumbled, tumbling to the ground in a heap of snaps. The black wolf swiped his large paws at Greyson's face, letting his razor like nails slice the delicate skin of his nose; blood started to drip, colouring the golden fur a deep matted morose red. Greyson's wolf was whimpering, shielding its nose from the onslaught the black wolf sent. The wolves separated, finding their feet in a show down; they circled each other, building the strength to strike. They lunged at the same time, their large bodies smacking into a heap of fur and teeth; the black wolf latched onto the skin of Greyson's neck; he bit down, drawing the crimson blood into his mouth. Greyson struggled, flapping his body like a fish out of water; I gasped, my heart pacing inside my chest.

This was my chance, my opportunity to get away; with that thought I shifted, falling heavily to my paws. The shadows shook, mentally screaming; I readied myself, already feeling the cold lick at my paws. They got closer, blocking me in; I wound my legs like springs, bending low and pouncing over the thick black band and landing with a skid on the rocky sand. I didn't wait around, sprinting off back into the forest. A horrific screech sounded behind me, the piercing noise like needles to my ears; I shivered, trying to shake the unease off my skin as I ran. The forest was just as dark as before, the dull trees swaying sluggishly like guards. My feet hit the dirt, flicking up discarded leaves behind me; my wolf sped up, desperately needing to get away.

I weaved my way between the gloomy guards, instinctively choosing my path; a loud howl ripped through the air, shattering the eerie atmosphere. My heart lurched, lodging in my throat; I pushed harder, trying to get away as fast as I could. A cold cloud settled over me, ghosting me; the hairs on my back prickled, my wolf becoming more alert. It was like my body was freezing from the inside; seizing up in my joints and my muscles calcifying. I slowed down, stiff and sore; I collapsed, my feet taken out from under me. My vision darkened, the black creeping in from the sides until it became like a tunnel. The air buzzed, lit by electricity; the shadows crept in, clinging to the borders of my sight like a nightmare. I could feel my heart pick up, sweat forming along my body in panic; a lone cold line swiped my back. I arched away, hating the slimy residue it left; a cruel shriek laughed, mocking me. I still couldn't move, my legs felt like lead, weighing me down; my mind was reeling, thinking a mile a minute about what was going to happen.

A weight pressed the back of my head down; it was like the air had condensed right over the skin but I couldn't feel anything touching, just a force. The feeling was indescribable and like nothing I had ever felt before; it was other worldly. My vision was fading, the light disappearing and the cold dark filling me wholly. My body shook, my muscles straining to move, to do anything. I puffed, frustrated at my predicament. What the fuck was happening to me? What were the shadows? Why did they want me? Questions fired off in my mind, jumping for attention.
