Theo had been right when he said that this would be the longest car ride of my life. It wasn't the miles we needed to travel or the windy roads that curved around brilliant and tall mountains, it wasn't even being cramped inside a moving piece of metal; it was because of April. Don't get me wrong, I love the girl; we've grown so close the last few weeks but this car ride, this ride is proving to be the death of me. We had gone through so many car games, I had lost count; it started with eye spy, to the number plate game and continued on and on. She was relentless, a never ending bundle of jumbled up words and excited squeals. Theo had been very tolerant during the five hours but I couldn't say the same for me; Colin had like a nice filter on because no matter what happened, he acted like it was the most excited thing to have ever gone on. I, on the other hand had been not quite as good; it started with eye rolls and one word sentences, then moved to completely ignoring them. It really didn't help that when I stopped playing, the couple in the back seat started making out; it wasn't fair! If I couldn't have my mate, then neither could they!

Theo could sense my unravelling anger; his hand reached over the console, gently clasping my fingers between his and running his thumb over the smooth skin.

"You okay?" He quietly asked, his eyes focused on the road so I could only see his profile. I took a moment to glance at him, watching his eyes flicker between different mirrors, checking for the cars. He really was stunning, even if his head almost touched the roof and his shoulders had to bunch up to stay in his chair. He didn't seem to mind though, like he was at peace in this very moment. I was more frustrated, being confined in one place, my legs cramping and my muscles straining from the uncomfortable angle of the head rest; he was an angel compared to me.

"Yeah, just tired," I brushed it off, waiting until we weren't trapped in a car before blowing my top. Theo didn't respond, he just keep rubbing my hand. I sighed out, relaxing deep into the leather interior and forcing my mind to let go of the seething animosity currently running through my blood. The sound of tongues clashing could be heard, the soft melody from the radio drowned out; Colin had pulled April over so she was nearly in his lap. Their hands roamed unhurriedly over each other's skin, casually feeling the lines and bumps of their partner. I longed for that, for the intimacy but I would just have to wait. The two broke apart, panting slightly before straightening out their clothes; Colin whispered lowly into April's ear, a sultry look crossed her face and she giggled.

"Later, Colin," she murmured to him, trying to ignore his hand sneaking its was up her side. She slapped it away when it reached her breast and turned her attention to me, "so, did you guys get up to any fun last night?" I groaned under my breath, hoping if I waited long enough to answer she would forget she asked, but she didn't. Instead, April rammed her finger into my shoulder, shaking me slightly; "so?"

"No, April," I sighed, rubbing the crease between my brows in annoyance, "we didn't really feel up to it, you know, after the whole nearly dying thing," Theo glanced over at me, his eyes briefly taking in my mood before turning back to the road.

"Don't mind her, we didn't sleep that great and got up early. I think a long nap is needed," he diffused the tension for me, brushing off my bad mood, "and she has her period," he added, chuckling under his breath.

"Hey!" I exclaimed, very tempted to hit him but reframed from doing so, since he was driving. "That's very rude," the couple in the back laughed along.

"That makes sense. Sorry then, I won't bother you babe," April said, leaning into her mate and studying the trees zooming past the window. Dammit Theo, that was very uncool. I turned away from him, silently telling him I wasn't happy and rest my head against the glass; maybe a little sleep wouldn't be too bad.
