Dec. 3, 2001
Greetings Winter, Greetings Snow,
Yule is not so far away,
Bells are jingling, Shoppers are everywhere,
I just want to curl up and stay warm.
My favorite season has long been gone,
I lean towards warm hibernation,
But still I look forward to the family visits,
With caroling , lights, and of course presents.
The tree and lights go up on Dec. 6th, on Saint Nicholas day.
The treats and baking then begin,
Cards are sent and presents are gathered for wrapping,
This all for our Dec. 24's midnight opening fair.
The tree and lights stay up till '12th night' which is Jan. 6th.
This all because I live with Old World Germans and their traditions.
So though I do not like the Winter's stay,
December is a joyous month of presents and visits gay.
So sit back and dream of schemes and plans
For what you will wish for during this season of gifts and festivals.
Because whichever traditions you and yours may follow,
Winter: for most is full of life through the Dreams.
