Identifying Flocks

There was a flock of birds today.

That came to eat and play.

All outside our third floor window,

While we waited for a class that was delayed.


They would hang upside down,

And swing like acrobats.

Ont the top most branches,

Of three birch trees; three floors high.


Some fluttered from branch to branch.

Some squabbled for positions.

Some just watched and eat the seeds.

While others arrived in a flurry of sound.


It took a while to identify,

In such an array of movement.

But identify I did: Pine Siskens they were.

One of a few small breeds to fly.
