Chapter 11: Trouble Maker

After the guys agreed to my conditions, Mr. Blackbourne, Kota, and Sean started discussing ways to implement their plan, with Silas occasionally giving his opinion.

Gabriel was sitting next to me on the couch, with his arm flung carelessly over my shoulder and his fingers playing with the ends of my hair. At first I had tried to sit up straight, unsure how to react to his arm around me, trying not to cuddle into his warmth.

Taking a deep breath in, I catch a whiff of lavender and turning toward him slightly, I realize it is part of his cologne, along with an almost tea like scent. It is a different scent than he was wearing when he styled my hair.

Discretely trying to identify the second scent, I sniff again and then blush when Gabriel catches me.

"Like what you smell, Trouble," Gabriel asks me, with a smirk.

I can hear the others pause and feel their eyes on me as I blush. My finger comes up to hover near my mouth as I answer him. "You smell different today?" I whisper.

Gabriel laughs and the arm around me tightens, pulling me closer to him. "That's because, I am too fucking awesome to tie myself to one boring scent for all eternity like these jackasses."

Conversation resumes around me as I hide my still blushing face in Gabriel's chest. He pulls me closer and starts to hum and the stress of the last couple days catches up to me. I bury my face in his firm chest as my eyes drift close.

The next thing I know, I'm again being lifted up and the scent of lavender is replaced by the calming scent of the ocean. Somehow, even half asleep, I know that I am in Silas' arms and perfectly safe.

I wrap my arms around his neck and bury my face into his shirt. The air shifts around me as I'm gently placed on a soft bed.

"Óneira glyká, ággelé mou," I sleepily hear him whisper.

I idly wonder if I'm dreaming, as I feel soft lips on my cheek and my hair brushed behind my ear.

"We'll be here when you wake." Is the last thing I hear before falling deeper into sleep.

The next thing I know, I'm jerking awake with a startled gasp, causing the fingers running through my hair to pull away. I whimper in fear as instinct causes me to curl into a ball, shutting my eyes tight and waiting for the first blow to fall.

"Sang," Kota's pain filled voice has me snapping my eyes open, as where I am comes rushing back to me. Kota is sitting on the edge of the bed and his hand is stretched out like he wants to touch me but is afraid to try.

"Kota?" I whisper, "what's wrong?" I sit up, worried that something bad has happened. "Is it my Step-Mom? Did she find me?"

Kota starts shaking his head, "nothing's wrong, Sang. I was just worried about you. You're safe, I promise you. We won't let her hurt you again." Kota stands up and offers me a hand.

I give him my uninjured hand, idly thinking that my hurt wrist is feeling a bit better, and he carefully pulls me out of bed, making sure I'm steady before letting me go. "North has made dinner and I wanted to see if you were hungry. It's lasagna."

At the thought of rich cheesy goodness, my stomach growls, causing me to flush with embarrassment.

Kota lets out a quiet chuckle, opening the door and making an 'after you' gesture. "I guess that answers the hungry question," he tells me as he escorts me downstairs.
