*A/N* I know I said this story was on hold until my co-author comes back, but I decided to give y'all something since I feel bad. So this WILL be revised and much more will be added to it in hopefully the near future, however here is a chapter to tide you over for a bit. Let me know what you think.**
Chapter 13: HOME SWEET HOME
The long drive to The Academy was uneventful and quiet. Dr. Green would ask me a few questions about myself here and there, which I would politely answer, but other than that we simply listened to the classical music playing quietly on the radio. After we got off the freeway and took a few turns, I noticed the road narrow and the tree lines get more dense. The road started to twist and turn as we drove, and I noticed we were the only ones on this road. About ten minutes later we turned off the abandoned road and onto a one-way dirt road. The trees were thick on both sides of the road and only seemed to get thicker. It seemed that this road was going to continue on forever. I was just about to ask if we were lost, when the tree line opened up.
In front of us was a very tall concrete wall with barbed wire around the top. It looked almost like a prison that you couldn't see inside. My stomach started to flip, wondering if I made a terrible mistake trusting these 9 strangers. I look in front of us and see Mr. Blackbourne typing a code into a small remote in his hand. After a moment the gate opened up, revealing a large town like community. There were small streets and a few little shops and restaurants. The majority of buildings were houses and they all seemed to be 2 and 3 stories high, with a lot of yard space. All of the houses looked very inviting, with flower gardens and dogs lazing in the yards. I saw quite a few children's toys and bikes as well. There was a beautiful community park, complete with a basketball court and outdoor pool. We passed a hospital that I assumed Dr. Green worked at. I did notice there was no school, which I found odd.
"Home, sweet home," Dr. Green says with a grin as we pull up to the largest house I had seen so far in the community.
It is a three story white house the seems to go on forever. From the outside I can see a separate garage filled with cars that I assume belong to all the boys. The house itself has to be at least 10 bedrooms, it looks more like a modern castle! My awe must show on my face because I hear Dr. Green chuckle as he gets out of the car. Mr. Blackbourne follows him and opens my door for me. I blush and thank him as I get out of the car, grabbing my books from the seat beside me.
"Is this really your house?" I whisper, twirling around in a circle, trying to take everything in.
"Our house," I hear Kota's voice from behind me and spin around. All the boys are trickling out of the front door and heading down the stairs toward us.
I blush at my mistake and correct myself. "Sorry, of course I know it belongs to all of you. I didn't mean-"
"No, Sang," Kota's chuckling cuts me off. "I meant ours, as in it belongs to you as well."
My mouth forms an "O" shape as I take in his words. I don't reel like it belongs to me. I feel more like their guest or an intruder.
"Let's give her the tour!" Luke says, bouncing all over the place. I wonder if he ever runs out of energy?
"We need to take her to the fucking mall and get her some damned clothes!" Gabriel chimes in.
"She needs to eat, she probably had some shitty burger or something on her way here," North growls.
I start to giggle because he is right. Mr. Blackbourne stopped at a fast food place for lunch and I had a cheeseburger.
"Pookie, no giggles! We talked about this!" Dr. Green scolds me with a grin on his face.
"Sorry, Dr. Green," I bite my lip to keep my giggles in.
"Miss Sorenson?" Mr. Blackbourne says, bringing my attention to his intense grey eyes. "What would you like to do first?"
"I- uh," I look around at all of the boys for an answer, but their faces give nothing away. "I would love to see the house, if it isn't too much trouble?"
"Yes!" Luke fist pumps the air and runs toward me. He grabs my hand and takes off up the front steps, toward the front door. "Let's go, Sang!"
I giggle and try my best to keep up with him. Behind me I can hear a few chuckles, along with Dr. Green telling me to quit my giggles, and North telling Luke to slow down before I trip.
I stop dead when we enter the house, causing Luke to jerk back and Gabriel to bump in to my back.
"Damn, Trouble!" Gabriel says, grabbing me around the waist to prevent me from falling flat on my face. "You are living up to your nickname, aren't you?"
"Sorry," I mumble, still a bit distracted.
"What's with the traffic jam?" Dr. Green ask, coming around us in the entryway. "Pookie, you alright?"
"This is so..." I try to find the words to express what I am feeling. "I just can't..."
"Fuckin' right!" Gabriel says, tightening his arms around my waist. "She is speechless after seeing my perfect fucking interior decorating skills."
"You did this?" I whisper, spinning around it his arms to face him. His hands slide to my hips at the movement. I am momentarily distracted by our close proximity.
"Yeah, Trouble," He grins. "I did the whole house, even North's room."
"It is amazing!" I smile up at him and turn again to take it all in.
The front entryway is a large open space with two spiral staircases on either side. There is a long, narrow wooden table on the right side of the door with dried purple and ivory flowers in the center and a large mirror hanging over them. On either side of the flowers are multiple frames with black and white photos of the guys. They are all laughing and smiling, they seem so happy as a family. To the left of the front door is an ivory shelving unit with an attached bench. The shelving unit has hooks for coats underneath and a few baskets on the shelf labeled "Bills", "Junk Mail/Magazines", and "Personal".
I don't realize I have migrated around the room until I find myself in front a large family photo of all of the guys together at the beach. It is hanging on the wall between the two sets of spiral staircases. The photo shows their personalities so well. North is scowling while Luke looks like he is daydreaming. Gabriel has his hand running through his hair as if making sure it is perfect and Victor looks deep in thought. Nathan has a football in his hands and he looks like he is about to toss it to Silas. Dr. Green looks like he is laughing his butt off at some unknown joke that Kota told. Finally Mr. Blackbourne is off to the side keeping he eyes on everyone.
"Come on, Sang! Let me show you my domain," Dr. Green says with a wicked grin. "The kitchen!"
"NO!" I hear eight other guys shout from behind us as we make our way to a set of swinging doors that I assume lead to the kitchen.
