I stormed into my room, Dillan following me inside. "I can't believe you left them there! A baby, Dillan! I helpless mother!" I yelled angrily as I turned to him, watching him calmly close the door.
"She wasn't helpless, she was dangerous." He said softly, walking over to me and went to gently take my hands. I wasn't stupid. He wasn't going to seduce me. He disgusted me at times like these. I slapped him as hard as I could across his cheek, watching his head whip to the side, his hand moving to his swelling cheek.
"She had a baby, Dillan! A BABY!" I yelled, glaring up at him like he once glared at me. I guess you could say our positions had switched overtime. He took a moment then lowered his hand from his cheek and looked back down at me, I could see the imprint of my exact handprint on his cheek.
"If you'd so kindly let me finish my sentences..." He muttered then looked down, fixing the collar of his suit. "She wasn't a mother. There was no baby. That was a sound recording with a woman working with terrorism. She would've killed anyone with the gun attached to her thigh."
I stared up at him, I wasn't going to believe him, but I saw the honesty in his eyes. My eyes widened in shock. He saved me. "B-But why?"
"Because people like her are ruthless. Anything to get attention. She was called 'adopted', like many of the people connected to the bombing incident." He said, looking back down at me.
"Why is she called adopted?" I asked curiously, my eyebrows creasing together.
"She was taken and trained to do things such as the act of being a mother. A helpless cold mother." He said simply then looked over at the wall, his lips pursed together.
"Oh..." I breathed, hugging myself tightly as I looked down. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have yelled at you, nor should I have slapped you."
"It's alright, I've gotten used to your reactions to the things I do daily." He said, smiling faintly as he looked down at me, I looked up at him. "I've also gotten used to paying attention to you."
"Are you kidding me?" I asked in disbelief, scoffing as I turned and walked into my bedroom. "I don't want you to flirt with me."
"Hazel, I-I didn't mean it like that." He said as he followed me, I wasn't going to fall for that excuse. "Hazel, please I-"
"Get out." I growled, keeping my back to him. There was a silence, a depressing silence. Then, I heard his footsteps fade and then the closing of the door.
He saved me, then he follows me into my own bedroom and tells me how he can't keep his eyes off me. No. I'm his. And he is mine. I'm not going to let some man I've known for two weeks take the place of a man that's been with me for over ten years.
I'm never going to allow him to take his place.
