Calum's Point of View
As I'm laying on my bed staring at the ceiling with just one thought circling around my head, a knock echoes through the room. With a huff, I lift myself off of the bed and walk slowly over to the door. I lay my hand on the knob and twist it gently, thus revealing not just one friendly face, but two.Since I live with one of them and see him everyday, I'm not overly excited to see him, but as for the other, I'm ecstatic because I haven't seen her in months. A smile overtakes my face as I engulf her in a bear hug. She laughs at my reaction, and thankfully returns my hug by holding onto me tightly. Damn, I've missed her.
"It's so good to see you, Cal," she whispers before she pulls away. I pout at the sudden loss of contact, but quickly get over it at the sight of Luke's expression. He's not mad technically, but he's not too happy either. Obviously he knows we're just friends -- I mean come on now, nobody can tear apart Luke and Liv, like ever. They're pretty much a package deal, stuck together like glue.
"It's been too long, my friend. How's everything?" She glances at Luke and sends him a sly smile as the words escape my lips. For a moment, I feel a bit invisible while the two of them stare at each other like cutesy couples do. I also feel extremely jealous because I want to have that with someone.
After what seems like an eternity, we eventually fall into a comfortable conversation, catching up on anything and everything. We start out with what we're doing career wise -- our band stuff and Liv's newest photography obsession -- and then end on how they're going to announce the engagement.
However, after we discuss that topic, I try to work another into the conversation before they have to leave. I'm hoping they'll be able to advise me on the subject since their situation was pretty similar to mine.
"So, uh, can I ask you guys something kinda personal?" My hand instinctively scratches the back of my neck in an awkward manner. It's not majorly embarassing, but for some reason I'm feeling as though it is.
"Sure thing," answers Luke.
"Of course," Liv replies cheerfully.
This'll work really well because I can get both points of view, and I'm in major need of Liv's since hers could be the same as Charlie's. Although, then again maybe not since she probably doesn't even think or feel the same way about me as I do her.
"Before I tell you, you have to promise not to overreact," I say, pointing at Luke and then Liv. They exchange a glance before nodding simultaneously.
"There's this girl," I barely get through this statement before Liv reacts. A somewhat high screech fills the air, surprising both Luke and I. She apologizes profusely before allowing me to continue.
As my lips part, I send her a signal so she knows I'm watching her. "It's nothing, really, but I can't seem to get her out of my head. Which is idiotic because I don't even know her. We've only tweeted each other a few times, and that's it, but I don't know. I just-," I sighed heavily, "don't know what to do about it."
Liv leaves her spot next to Luke and joins me on the edge of the bed. The mattress dips slightly, but not too much since she barely weighs anything.
Her hand rubs my back as she begins to speak. "You know, it may seem idiotic to feel such a strong way towards someone you barely know, but in reality it's not, it's actually thrilling. It's an exciting adventure because as the journey progresses, your feelings deepen as you get to know more and more about the other person," she smiles wide as her thoughts become words, "and before you know it, it's as if you've known them your entire life." This time she sends Luke a genuine smile, and he reflects her actions.
"I like to think so because it worked so well for the two of you, but I'm also worried because I'm not sure if this platform will be as successful." My hands tug at the loose curls that are adorning my head. It's all just so frustrating.
It's one thing to have feelings for a girl that I actually know or have actually seen in real life, but to feel such a way about someone over the Internet just makes it even harder. There's always the possibility that she won't like who I really am, or maybe I won't like her as much as I originally thought. In a situation like this there's just far too much to lose.
"Cal," Luke finally speaks up, "It's crazy and it seems like it's the wrong thing, but you'll never know unless you try. What if this girl is the one, but you'll never know because you weren't man enough to put yourself out there?"
His question lingers in the air as we all stare long and hard at each other.
"You can't miss a shot like that, so I give you full permission to do it," Luke encourages. He makes his way over to me and holds out his hand. I gladly take it and pull him into a brotherly hug. "You can do it, dude."
Liv hugs me as well once Luke and I separate, and encourages me to go for it even more than Luke did.
"You put yourself out there and I promise you'll get something everlasting in return," she says.
I thank them both before they head off to do some more thinking about the announcement. Hopefully, they'll do it soon because I'm about to burst at the seams. I've been keeping it so long and I can't do it another second longer.
With their words resonating in my mind, I decide to make a move to progress the journey, and hopefully it'll turn out better than I can ever imagine.
Charlie's Point of View
It's been a little while since I've accidentally hacked into Calum's account, so I think it's safe to take another swing at it. Besides there's plenty of more girls who can finally get the follow they've been waiting ages to have.Cuddled up comfortably with Tommo on my lap, I open my laptop and type in his user and password that I've come to memorize. Once the page loads, I go through a little routine of checking his mentions, his newest follows, and a few tweets he's composed himself that I've missed when on as myself.
My eyes scan quickly through the tweets, and I can't help but have a mischievous thought. If he's anything like myself than there's got to be a few tweets that weren't worthy of being composed, and thus were sent to the drafts folder.
Lo and behold, he's exactly like me because there are numerous tweets that he has yet to send out for everyone to see. I'm about to click on one to read it further when another one catches my eye. It was written about ten minutes before I logged in, and it just so happens to be directed at me.
My eyes nearly pop out of my head as I read over my username. Oh my god, I think, he was going to reply for a second time.
I click on it immediately to see exactly what it says:
@Calum5SOS: @charlieschocofactory we should discuss the location of the key because I'm in desperate need of your help
So, not only was he going to reply again, he's actually suggesting we talk even more.
What on earth are you trying to do to me, Calum?
