The Hidden Spirit

Chapter Five

I changed back to normal on the ledge, my clothes had changed over the years from my leather cloak and black dress to a black cloak, jean shorts, a black tank top and a transparent black half shirt with a silver American flag on the front. I guess I took to long because I looked up and Sandman was there, I screamed slightly and jumped, I knew it would hurt so I shifted into the first animal I thought of.

I turned into a mini reindeer like North's crew and basically galloped through the air, I landed on a different ledge again and looked over at them. Jack was holding back a laugh, Sandman was staring, Tooth was smiling and Bunnymund, well he was painting an egg.

"Clever! Very clever indeed!" North said

I snorted and waved my spear, "Not clever, not clever at all, that was one of the most quickly thought things in my life!" I said.

I waved my staff around, obviously not pleased as I turned into a hawk and flew to Jack's shoulder, that's when Bunnymund looked up. He jumped back a bit startled because of the type of bird I became.

"What is that in here for!" He said.

I fell backwards laughing hard, Jack was laughing too.

"What's so funny?" Bunny asked.

I stood up and ruffled my feathers, "Just that the Easter, Kangaroo, is afraid of a bird," I said, dusting and shoulder off with my wing.

He looked me right in the eyes angrily, "Im a bunny," He said.

Before he knew what happened I had swung my staff and changed into a large dog, just tall enough to be taller than him. I made growled making him run back a bit, I smirked and swung my staff again. When Bunny saw how tall I was compared to him without anything making me more vicious, he laughed

"A little girl that is a guardian? You got to be kidding, she probably isn't even 13!" Bunnymund said, painting another egg.

"Yes, a young girl that outsmarted a bunny that has been alive longer than her, that also made the bunny run and hide," I said looking at my nails.

Before he could say anything Jack cut in.

"So, why are we here?" He asked.

I agreed with him, I looked at North questioningly. He said something about becoming a guardian for children, Jack said something then it was my turn.

"Do I have to?" I asked.

That got everyone staring at me, "What?" I said.

Sandy shook his head and started showing images, good thing I was good at remembering things that had to do with pictures.

"Man in moon said it was time for a new guardian, and it ended up being me and Jack?" I asked.

"Yes, and how can you understand Sandy?" North asked.

"Don't mess with my understanding of pictures," I said.

North understood and said even more things that made me lose interest so I started thinking things again, I remembered a type of horse that looked black and had a type of sand streaming from it. It confused me so I made it come real and made it float as a small type, I examined it until I saw Sandman look over at it with a horrified face.

I looked over at them now 'cause Sandy got their attention, they all looked at it with wide eyes and I just touched it making it disappear as I got up. The others walked over except for Jack because he had been listening to them but had been right in front of me. But before they could ask anything Tooth gasped.

"The palace, its being attacked!" She said. "I have to go." She left before anyone could say anything.

-A bit later-

"To the sleigh!" I heard North say.

I turned into a type of small dragon I had made up once in a dream, when Sandy saw it he gave me a thumbs up. I got into the sleigh but it seemed Bunny wouldn't, North laughed and put him in.

"Buckle up!" He said.

Bunny looked around, "Where are the bloody seat belts!?" He shouted.

"It was an expression!" North said and smacked the reins.

I whooped while Sandy put his hands in the air and Bunny looked like he was about to die, Jack wasn't doing anything really but smiling. I saw Jack go over the side at one point and I looked over the edge to see him hanging out on a type of wing, Bunny wasn't happy that he got tricked and I helped Jack back up. We then started seeing the type of horse I had drawn, they were swallowing the fairies.

Jack flew and grabbed one while I turned into one and started flying around a few horses, they started chasing me and I was starting to panic. I saw all of the horses chasing me, I dived into some trees and turned into a nightmare horse. They got confused and kept running, I stayed still until they left and headed back to the palace. At first Bunny threw a boomerang at me and Tooth flew at me, but I turned into a bird and dodged both.

"Watch it! Why would a Nightmare come back to here?!" I said flying to Jack's shoulder.

"They're all gone, every last tooth and fairy," Tooth said as she sat on her knees.

The Baby Tooth Jack had saved flew out over to Tooth and she seemed happy now, I glanced at Jack and he looked at me like I was a crazy lady. Then I remembered we don't exactly get along so no reason to be there. I flew off his shoulder just as I heard someone laugh. I growled and turned into a black wolf that I had thought of years moths ago for times like this, but I guess since I was a wolf I had no brain to stop chasing prey because a Nightmare horse flew past me as bait from Pitch to send me away, and I chased it with rage of it eating the little fairies.

I heard Tooth calling and I heard a bit of talking and an angry Bunny, I looked back and didn't notice I was heading straight at a wall. I looked forward only just enough time for me to see a wall at my nose before I hit my head.
