The Hidden Spirit

Chapter Nine

Jack was floating outside the window of Jamie's room and so was I, since I was weak because only Jamie believed in me I had to hold on for dear life at the window to look in. Jamie was talking to his stuffed bunny, Jack made a window cover in frost and he drew a Easter egg, then he frosted another one and made a bunny. Jack made the bunny come to life and hop around the room, then it popped into snow flakes.

Jamie laughed at the snow and one landed on his nose.

"Jack Frost," Was all he said.

I was with Jack in Jamie's room now, I made sure Jamie couldn't see me until he could see Jack.

"He said my name, you said my name!" He said laughing.

Jamie turned and gaped, he could see me and Jack but didn't say anything.

"Jack Frost," He said again.

"Yes! Thats my name, wait can you see me? Can you hear me?" Each time Jamie nodded he got excited.

"You're real?!" He said excitedly.

"Yes!" Jack said.

"And the others, the Easter Bunny?" He asked.

"Jamie who are you talking to?" His mother asked from downstairs.

"Jack Frost?" He said when Jack nodded.

"Alright," His mother answered and he gaped smiling at Jack.

We heard North's sleigh crash, we went outside with Jamie running out the front door. I saw North and Tooth come out of the sleigh.

"Jack! Creata!" Tooth said trying to fly but fell.

Jack rushed over to her and helped her up, "What happened to you guys? And where's Bunny?"

"Easter took its tole on all of us, Bunny the most," North said and turned to Bunny.

Bunny was small now and hopped out looking like a small decorative bunny, Jamie ran over to Jack.

"You are real! You are right Jack!" Jamie said excited.

"He can see you!" Tooth said to Jack.

"That's the Easter Bunny? He used to be tall and awesome! But now he's small and fluffy," Jamie said scratching Bunnymund's ear.

Bunny thought Jack had told him to say that and kicked his leg.

"No, actually he told me you were real," Jamie said.

"He made you believe, in me?" Bunny said happily.

The rest went by in a blur because I heard Jack's voice echoing again from Pitch, I covered my ears again while sliding on a sled. Jack was helping Jamie get his friends to believe again, Jamie started making them believe and soon they were out sledding too. My sled hit something and sent me off course onto a street where the others didn't see me go, I kept trying to black out the noise of Jack's voice in my head, "Nobody can care about you!"

I got up and started heading out of the alley, I got trapped by a nightmares though. I jumped up the building and started running, my head hurting from the echoing in my thoughts. I saw the others, they seemed fine now and Bunny was running from a Nightmare under a car, I kept hearing Jack's voice in my head.

I whispered quietly as Nightmares surrounded me, "If you make it stop, I will join you."

I felt the Nightmares go past me as the echoing stopped, the others looked at me in horror that I was just standing with Nightmares going past me. I felt stronger now and I turned into a raven flying to the Nightmare King, I landed and turned back as he raised his scythe behind Jack.

I squawked not wanting to see it as Bunny threw a boomer rang at Pitch, Pitch deflected it and was about to hit Jack when golden sand whips grabbed his arms. I followed Pitch as he came to a oval of golden sand, it turned out to be Sandman and he punched Pitch into the air. I watched as he yanked Pitch back down onto the ground, I backed away from where they were and turned into a black cat.

I jumped into a tree as they started doing a snowball fight, I saw Jamie look over at me and Jack got his attention by hitting him with a snowball. I saw that none of the guardians really saw me, Pitch tried grabbing Jamie but Jamie walked through him. He started running and I followed, I followed him to the pond me and Jack died in. He bumped into North and I almost ran into Sandman, I backed away from them and behind Pitch.

Tooth handed him a quarter and then punched him, knocking a tooth out as he tripped over me. I felt pain on my side again, I heard Jack's voice echoing in my head again. I saw Pitch smiling evilly at me as I changed back to human and plugged my ears, I saw the Nightmares chase Pitch into his lair and destroy its entry. I felt fine now but didn't feel like I belonged anymore, not like I ever did though.

I saw them talking to Jamie and his friends again, I started walking away but I knew they had now spotted me. I was at the edge of the woods when Jack turned me around, he backed up as he saw me, my snake tattoo wasn't red anymore but a pure black with red eyes on my forehead instead of my arm, my eyes were brown but had red on them and my hair was a dark dark brown that was almost black.

I wasn't me anymore, I was stuck as this now because of Pitch.

"I must leave now," I said.

"No you don't, you can still be a guardian!" Jack argued.

I looked over at the others who were getting ready to leave and were talking, they weren't looking at us so they didn't see me or Jack, I was thankful for that because of what I did next. I kissed Jack on the cheek, again, I hugged him and left.

"Don't think this is the last of me, since I was just a shadow behind you, I wasn't meant to be a guardian. Im just a hidden spirit, someone who helps, I will never be a guardian, goodbye," I said my voice trembling.

I turned into a wolf and with one last look behind me, I left into the woods.

I kept watch over the guardians, I kept an eye out for in case Pitch came back also, Jack looked everywhere for me but could never find me. I started loosing my memory of fighting Pitch, of the guardians and of Jack, all I knew was I was Creata, and all my life I was the reason kids made ways to believe in the guardians.

Until one fateful day, when I was in the North Pole watching from a distance, that I heard a voice behind me I hadn't heard in 4 years.

"Creata?"
