The Hidden Spirit

Chapter Seven

I had stayed very quiet from the others for the rest of the time, it then came to Easter, the only way to save them now. Jack had kept trying to get me to talk.

He would poke my nose and say, "Creata!" Making the 'e' in my name go 'eeeeeee'.

The last time he did it had been about the 30th time, I finally snapped then he poked my nose and I started laughing. He smiled and brought me down off the ledge, it was time to go to Bunny's place.

"To the sleigh!" North said.

"Nope, we're going my way, mate, buckle up!" He said as he stomped his foot twice.

"I bet I'll get there before you rabbit! If I win I call you Easter Kangaroo and you don't use your boomerangs at me, if you win- you choose that part," I said.

He smiled and said, "You got yourself a deal, and if you lose," He whispered it in my ear and I gaped at him.

"No," I said shaking my head, he nodded and dived down.

I waved my staff and appeared Bunny's place. As soon as I got there I saw Bunny's smirking face. I glared at him and laughed, shaking my head.

"I'll do it later, Easter Kangaroo," I said.

"I'm a bunny!" He said. "Welcome to my place." He said gesturing to the place and the statue eggs.

North was laughing, "Buckle up, it is funny," He said.

Then Bunny turned and listened, eggs on legs came running and he got his boomerangs out. Then I saw someone who I least expected, Sofie. I gasped and turned into a bird, landing on her shoulder.

"How'd she get here?" Bunny asked.

"Snow globe," North said searching his jacket.

"Bunny!" Sofie said.

I chirped and she stared at me, "Crete!" She said and clapped.

Time passed quite quickly, I had been sitting watching the eggs on my ledge like usual. I swooped and grabbed one single egg, I swooped back up started painting a red bird on it. I swooped back down and put it at a certain tunnel, I saw Bunny with the sleeping Sofie and I turned into a snow owl. Flying over I heard Jack say he could take her, the others argued.

"I'll go with him, I'll make sure we get back fast!" I hooted.

They looked at me and agreed, we flew to Sofie's room pretty quick. Jack laid her down but she rolled off the bed, so he put covers on her and a toy. We left the room with Baby Tooth, we were heading back until we started hearing something.

Jack stopped flying and we heard a faint, "Jack?"

"Jack, no we need to go!" I said pulling him.

Then I heard, "Cre?" My old name, I only knew that much of my past.

I stopped pulling him, this time he started flying and I was stuck on finding that voice, we ended up by the pond we had both woke up at. I didn't know at the time that me and Jack died there, and neither did Jack, we saw a bed that seemed years old and should've been gone by now. We kept hearing the voices, first Jack went down, then me and Baby Tooth.

I wasn't letting my guard down though, I turned human again with invisible wings. I followed Jack with my stick and I kept hearing the voice, he jumped down to the teeth and so did I. The last Jack we heard was from a laughing Pitch, I heard Jack's voice echoing in my head again, "Nobody will care about you!"

I dropped my stick and put my hands on my ears, I closed my eyes and fell to my knees. Jack saw me but kept going after Pitch, once I was able to get up I saw Pitch give him the tube with his memories. He looked at it but then charged Pitch, Pitch disappeared with a laugh and he charged again. Leaving me with Baby Tooth in the Nightmare King's lair.

-Annual Easter Egg Hunt-

Bunny watched as no child found a single egg, "There are no eggs!" A child said.

Bunny jumped out and over to them, "No look! There is, they aren't my best, but they'll do in a pinch!" He said.

"I can't believe it," A girl said looking at bunny.

"Heh, I know," He said.

"There isn't Easter this year," The boy finished her sentence.

"Wait, what?" Bunny said and recoiled as the girl walked through him.

He dropped to his knees as the others came out, Jack came out a little while later.

"Jack, where have you been?" Tooth asked, she gasped seeing the tube in Jack's hand. "Jack where did you get this? Where's Baby Tooth and Creata?" She kept asking.

"Jack where were you? The eggs-" North saw the tube. "Jack?"

Jack looked at the tube, "Listen, I-I didn't mean for any of this I-" He got cut off.

"Not a single egg made it to the surface, not a single basket. The Nightmares came and crushed them all, we never should have trusted you!" Bunny yelled.

-Pitch's Lair-

I kept trying to find a way out, Pitch had gotten Baby Tooth and I heard Jack's voice echoing in my head more, "Nobody will care about you! Get that through your head!" I felt like sitting down and crying but I wouldn't let it happen, then I remembered my teleportation with my staff. I took it out and thought very strongly of where Jack could be, bringing my staff above my head a tear ran down my cheek and I slammed my staff back down.

When I felt myself stop teleporting a cold rush of wind and snow hit me, I shivered and opened my eyes looking around till I saw Jack on a icy ledge.

"Jack?" I said, rubbing my arms.

He turned, I saw pure regret on his face. "I shouldn't have gone to the voice, I shouldn't have betrayed the others," He said.

"Jack, Pitch is coming, he might get the guardians and defeat them we have to help!" I said against the wind.

"I can't, I can't, Bunnymund was right, I am not meant to be a guardian," He said doubtfully.

I ran towards and him and hugged him, I decided I would do Bunny's part of the bet now. I did the least expected thing I would have ever thought to do, I kissed Jack on the cheek. I backed away from him and he gave me a tight hug, I flew with him to something that was mixed with ice and black sand.

I stayed near Jack, hoping Pitch wouldn't try anything if I was close to him. Suddenly I was in a shadow near the sculpture, feeling something holding me by the neck to make me face Jack. When Jack finally saw me and Baby Tooth, he pointed his staff at Pitch.

Pitch laughed, "Hand me the staff or they get it," He said, squeezing my neck and Baby Tooth tighter.

Jack started handing his staff over, "Jack no!" I said, but he had handed it over.

Pitch threw Baby Tooth at a ice mountain and sent Jack flying with his powers, he then got a better grip on my neck and chucked me at where Baby Tooth was at. I hit the ice at an angle that made my back feel like it broke, I fell to the ground where Baby Tooth was at. I was conscious but I could hardly breathe.

I saw Jack crawl over to Baby Tooth who was in front of me, then he faced me sitting up he helped me sit up. Baby Tooth stayed in front of him on the ground with me up against the wall trying to breathe, he looked at the tube I heard a jingle of something fall. I looked around and saw a tube like Jack's I picked it up and looked at a girl that looked like a young me, I looked at it and then to Jack. I nodded and we both opened the tooth containers at the same time.
