ALLISON GROANED AS she heaved her final box into her new room. Her mother had moved them across the country, again, and she was being forced to start at a new school three weeks into the school year. She was ticked, to say the least. Allison moved from Texas, a very sunny and dry place, to Forks, a town that wasn't even on most maps and was under a constant cloud coverage. Her room was full of boxes she had yet to unpack. Allison had been here for a day and her mom was expecting her to be completely unpacked already.

As Allison busied herself with unpacking upstairs, she heard a car pull up the gravel driveway through her open window. She walked to the window, curious. Allison brushed her long, curly hair from her face and saw a man get out of a police cruiser and a pretty brunette about her age followed him. The girl glanced up and caught Allison's gaze. She smiled up at Allison and sent a slight wave, which Allison returned. Allison turned away as she heard her mom calling her downstairs.

"Coming, Ma," Allison yelled as she slid down the railing by the stairs and landed on her feet at the bottom.

Melissa smiled and rolled her eyes at her daughters actions. "This is my daughter, Allison. She's starting school tomorrow."

"Ugh, mom don't remind me."

"As you can see, she's very enthused," Melissa remarked. "Allison this Charlie Swan, the Chief of Police, and his daughter, Bella. She's new as well."

Allison smiled at Bella again. "Are you starting school tomorrow, too?"

"Yeah," Bella told the taller brunette. "At least I'll know one person."

"Well, we just came to greet the new neighbors," Charlie interrupted the girls' conversation.

"Neighbors?" Allison inquired. If they were neighbors then why did he drive his car here? He was probably out somewhere, she answered her own unasked question.

"Yeah, we live right down the road," Charlie explained to the curly haired brunette.

Allison nodded to show she'd heard before tuning out the rest of the conversation. She was nervous about school tomorrow; she hated being the new girl. Her mom was a doctor, a very skilled doctor, and she was constantly moving Allison and herself around. Allison was originally from San Fransisco, but she moved when she was four. Having met Bella, Allison felt that it would be easier tomorrow, if only slightly.

Bella's voice snapped Allison from her thoughts. "Do you want a ride to school tomorrow, or something?"

"Yeah," Allison breathed out, relief flooding through her, "That would be really great, thanks." Allison's truck was being brought to Forks from Texas. It was a rusty old Chevy that was once painted a light blue, but was now mainly rust with blotches of blue.

"Okay," Bella smiled, "I can pick you up at like, seven, if that's okay with you?"

"Yeah, yeah that's fine."

"Bella, we've gotta go. We have to eat dinner and all that," Charlie once again interrupted the girls.

Melissa and Allison said their goodbyes to Charlie and Bella. Allison sighed as they left; time to unpack.

Allison woke the next morning with a groan. She got like six hours of sleep; she was unpacking until midnight. Allison rolled out of bed and stumbled into the bathroom conjoined with her bedroom. She flinched as she looked in the mirror; her hair was a mess and she had circles under her eyes that could be compared to black holes. Allison hopped in the shower and was out in twenty minutes.
