ALLISON SIGHED, RUNNING her hand through her dark hair. She sighed again, rubbing her hands over her face and placing her elbows on her knees. The brunette released a groan, throwing herself backward onto the bed behind her.

"Alright?" Paul spoke up, his eyes worriedly glancing at Allison, before returning to the Algebra book in front of him. He grumbled, erasing his previous answer.

Allison groaned, rolling over so that her head was resting on Paul's extended leg. "No," she whined, placing her hands back over her face.

Paul sighed, closing his school book and pushing it to the side. He placed his hands over her wrists, and moving them away from her face. "Let's talk, A. What's got you so stressed?"

The girl grumbled, peering up at the man above her. "Everything." She felt like she was being overly-dramatic, but she meant it. "The Cullen's are back, Bella wants to be a vampire, I'm still in love with Jasper; so, everything is making me stressed."

"Okay," Paul bit his lower lip in thought, his hands fiddling with the ends of his best friend's hair. "Okay, so, let's talk about the Bella thing first, yeah? What's going on?"

Allison sighed once more, "Bella wants to be a vampire, just so she can be with Edward forever. I don't know, I just don't know how to feel about it. I mean, as her best friend, I won't stop her, because it's not my decision."

"And as her Protector?"

"As her Protector, I'm absolutely against it. I mean, she would be dead, and that kills me. But then again, she would be able to protect herself if she were a vampire. I don't know."

Paul furrowed his eyebrows in thought, tapping Allison on the forehead playfully. "I think that's why you're so upset; you know that if she becomes a vampire, then you know that you won't have to protect her anymore."

The girl frowned, a sudden sadness overcoming her at the thought. Protecting Bella was literally her purpose for living, and if she couldn't do that anymore, she didn't know what she would do. She almost felt like a mother, watching her child go off to college; there was the feeling that your duty was done, and now you were just. . . empty. "Yeah. Yeah, I think you're right."

"I always am, A."

"That's debatable."

Paul scoffed, flicking the girl on the forehead. She giggled, turning her face away from him. "And the Jasper thing; do you want to talk about that?"

Allison sighed, blinking up at the man. Her eyes darted to the ceiling, and she found herself staring at it. The painting was chipped, something she wanted to fix. Actually, Allison wanted to fix the entire room. She would have to talk to her parents about painting her room.

"I miss him," she whispered, turning her head to rest on Paul's thigh. "I know that I'm the one who said that we couldn't be together, but I miss him so damn much."

"I think you did the right thing," Paul mumbled, nodding his head. "By taking a break with him; I think that was really smart."

Allison sighed, "Me too, but that doesn't mean that it still doesn't hurt. I just— I don't know."

"You love him," The boy supplied, tilting his head slightly. "And from what I have heard, he loves you too." Paul smiled down at the girl. "I don't like the guy, you know that. I don't like what he did to you. It especially bothers me, because I was the one who found you in the woods. But, I want you to be happy."

Allison sat up, running her hand through her messy hair before facing her friend. "I'll be happy, if everything just works out. That's all I want; for everyone to be happy, and for everything to work out."

"And I think it will, eventually. One day, you're going to be beyond happy, and when that day comes, Bella and I will be right beside you."
