"I DON'T CONDONE this at all, just so you know." Allison spoke, narrowing her eyes at the two in beside her. She scoffed when they stayed silent. "Not that either of you care, but still."
"You're the one that agreed to help fix them." Jacob pointed out, his voice smug as his body shook gently with a soft chuckle. "In fact, you're the one that convinced me to fix them."
"Because I didn't know that the adrenaline junkie wanted to ride them!"
"Adrenaline junkie is right here, folks." Bella pointed to herself dryly, rolling her eyes as her friends talked about her like she wasn't there.
"Adrenaline junkie is right here, folks." Allison mocked lowly, making her voice high-pitched to imitate Bella's. The girl in question scoffed from beside her, taking her eyes off the road to send a punch to Allison's upper arm.
Jacob smiled at their banter, before it abruptly disappeared. His smile was replaced with a thoughtful frown as he furrowed his eyebrows. "If I told you two that I couldn't fix these bikes, what would you have said?"
Allison shot the boy a vaguely surprised look, turning slightly to face him. "Are you doubting your mad skills?"
Jacob scoffed playfully, "No, definitely not. I mean, they'll run fine," His smile dimmed once again, "It's just, maybe if I was smarter, I would've dragged out the rebuilding." He continued, shooting Bella a look. Allison smiled slightly, knowing of her friend's crush on her best friend.
"If you told me that you couldn't fix these bikes, I would say that's really too bad, but the three of us are just gonna have to find something else to do." Bella spoke reassuringly, taking her eyes off the road briefly to glance at her friends. Jacob nodded with a laugh, before Bella spoke again. "Is that Sam Uley?" She pointed at the cliff several yards away.
Allison looked closely to see a group of boys, the werewolves, laughing together as they tried to push one of their brothers off the cliff. She felt a small smile cross her lips as she saw the familial bond between the boys.
"Yeah," Jacob spoke slowly. "Him and his cult." Allison shot the boy a look, something in her gut telling her that he would soon be apart of that 'cult.'
"Oh, my God!" Bella exclaimed as she saw the boy fall into the water below. She squealed the truck to a halt, hopping out of the drivers side and running to the edge of the road. "Did you see that?" Bella turned to Allison, only to see her leaning up against the side of the truck and smiling amusedly at her.
"They're not really fighting, Bella." Jacob explained after his laugher caught her attention. "They're cliff diving. Scary as hell, but a total rush."
Allison watched as Jacob's words sank in. The brunette pushed herself off the side of the truck and rushed to Bella's side. "A rush?" Bella mumbled under her breath, too low for anyone but Allison to hear.
"Don't you dare even think about it, Isabella." Bella shot her a surprised look, shocked by the tight grip Allison had on her arm and the growling tone in her voice. "Promise me you won't, Bells." Her voice was pleading now.
"I—I promise." Bella promised softly, removing her arm from Allison's grip and intertwining their fingers.
". . . most of us jump from lower down, but leave the showing off to Sam and his decibels." Jacob continued, his voice sardonic.
"You have some kind of beef with them, or something?" Allison asked as she walked back to Jacob, Bella trailing behind her.
"I don't know," Jacob's voice was rough with emotion, "They just think they run this place. Embry used to call 'em hall monitors on steroids, and now look at him."
