KYLIE POV

When Chris took a step towards me, my heart sped up and without thinking I ducked under his outstretched arm, unlocked the door, and made a run for it. I didn't know why I had run, and I didn't even know what type of feelings I had for him. All I knew was, I had to get out of there. I hesitated in the middle of the hallway. Should I go back to class? I felt the tears on my face. No, I couldn't go back to class. I looked around for somewhere to go where I wouldn't be spotted.

"Kylie, wait!" Chris shouted behind me. I turned and saw him standing in the hallway, and I quickly ducked into a nearby door. I realized with a jolt that I was in some type of storage closet, and I pressed my ear to the door. I heard Chris' footsteps, and I quickly locked the door. The doorknob rattled, and then I heard him sigh.

"Look, I'm sorry, okay? I just want you to talk to me, please." He said. I didn't open the door, and after a few more minutes I heard him sigh again and then his footsteps faded away down the hallway. I slid to the ground and started sobbing. My life was fucked up. I didn't even know why Chris was acting like he was, and I was afraid of what Lucas wanted from me. When the bell rang signaling it was the end of second period, I tried to stop crying so I could go to English. I stood up and ran back to biology, quickly grabbing my books and dashing back into the hallway as I went to English class.

When I arrived in the classroom, Lucas intercepted me before the teacher walked in.

"What did he do to you?!" He shouted angrily.

"N-nothing, he just had to ask me something." I said.

"Bullshit! I can tell you were crying, now tell me why." Lucas growled.

"He was just intimidating.. It made me nervous." I said, looking in his eyes to show I was telling the truth. Finally, he sighed, and I could tell he believed me.

"I'm sorry." He whispered.

"It's okay." I said, sitting down and staring at the wall. Mrs. Johnston walked in and began teaching, oblivious to what had just happened.

LUCAS POV

I knew there was something Kylie wasn't telling me, and I planned to find out what it was. What had she and Chris been talking about? When the bell rang, Kylie went upstairs for orchestra, and I went to my locker and put my books away. I had a free period, and I planned to use it to talk to Chris. I waited by his locker until he came around the corner.

"What are you doing here Bradford?" He growled as he shoved books in his locker.

"Asking you why you basically kidnapped my girlfriend from class today." I said with my arms crossed.

"She's YOUR girlfriend. If you want to know, just ask her since you talk to her so much." Chris said angrily as he spun around to face me.

"I asked her but for some reason she won't tell me all of it." I admitted.

"Well I have no clue why you think I would tell you, so just run along and don't bother me again. Ever." Chris said, beginning to walk away from me. I grabbed his shoulder and spun him around.

"Look, just stay away from her, okay?!" I shouted.

"Don't touch me." He growled, stepping closer to me. Shit, I hadn't realized how much taller he was than me.

"You had her. I have her. So just stay away." I continued, ignoring his comment.

"I'll go around whoever the hell I want to go around, Bradford. You're not my mother." He said, getting angrier by the second.

"Yeah, I'm not your mother. And I feel bad for whoever the poor lady is-" I was cut off by his fist connecting with my face, and I tasted blood in my mouth, most likely dripping from my nose. Blinded by fury, I took a wild swing at him and missed, and he shoved my face into his already dented locker. I grunted in pain and ducked as he swung again, but then he just kneed me in the face. This time the blood was definitely coming from my mouth. I somehow managed to stand up and take him off guard by punching him in the face, but then I regretted it when he slammed me on the ground and started raining blows on my face. I could see a crowd gathering around, and soon the pain faded away as I slipped into blackness.
