Thank you guys so much for being interested in this piece.
Vance's POV:
Once I had walked away from the bleachers I turned to see what Jade would do. After she had moved to a different spot, she picked up the joint. Surprisingly, she destroyed it. "Bellissimo, Jade". She dug around in her purse for a second and pulled something small out, maybe a mint, and put it in her mouth, then laid down.
She was nice to look at, and it had been a heady feel to have her pressed up against my body. I know Kota had said to stay away from her. That Jade isn't the person I would like to hang around with on a daily basis, but damn if my body didn't react to her. I had to readjust myself again just thinking about Jade and myself being together. I felt my phone buzz and checked it.
Marco: Everything good?
Vance: So far.
Marco: Let me know if you need anything. I am finishing up some stuff downtown then heading your way.
Vance: Just keeping an eye on her right now. She's laying on the bleachers.
Marco: K
I saw movement from my peripheral vision and looked up. She was up shrieking at someone. Who, I had no idea. There was no one in sight.
"I said go away!" She rose to her full height, and stood on those god-forsaken heels. "I am Thoth, the Ibis God. I will fly and peck your eyes out. You are nothing to me, peasant!"
"What the hell?" I took off for her as she ran towards the end of the bleachers. Split decision. My decision was made for me. I was going to have to catch her. I gave a quick glance up to try and judge the distance, when Jade took a flying leap. A swan dive. It was graceful. The form flying through the air was perfect: arms out to the side, legs straight, and toes pointed. Her eyes were closed. This was what a goddess was supposed to look like. Unfortunately, she didn't have wings and I was going to miss her if I didn't hurry up.
With a final push, I just barely made it. She landed in my arms and I curled myself around her hitting the ground hard as pain shot through my shoulder from the impact. I would have to worry about it later.
I looked down to make sure Jade was okay. Her pupils were huge, taking up almost all of her iris. I never even saw the punch coming. It was solid. I was pretty sure my nose was broken, but she was up and running, ripping her shirt off as she ran screaming obscenities down the football field. I pulled my phone out and rang Owen.
"Mr. Capriani?" Owen, ever the polite gentleman.
"Get Sean out to the football fields. Now!"
"What seems to be the problem?"
"It's Jade. Just... now!" I slipped the phone back in my pocket as I chased after her. She was fast. I finally caught up to her at the ten yard line and took her down as delicately as I could. She was fighting me every step of the way.
"I must return to Egypt. Unhand me!" Jade tried to free her hands, then suddenly, I watched her eyes roll back in her head as she went limp.
"No. No, no, no. Come on Jade. Open your eyes. You don't get to punch me and then pass out." I slapped her face once to see if that would wake her up, but it did nothing.
