Jade's POV:

I listened to the door shut. I knew it was Jay before I could even see him. "Jade?" He came closer to me and sat down in the vacant chair where Marco had been sitting just a few moments earlier. "What happened? Dr. Green sent word through the school that I needed to come to the hospital immediately. He wouldn't tell me anything until I got here. He said you had been taking acid, were on cocaine and weed. I know about the weed, but cocaine and acid? Jade, you said you had quit everything."

I saw the pain and hurt in his eyes. He knew what I had been through. Well, not everything. I was too ashamed to tell him everything. I couldn't tell him the other parts. My dealer was dangerous. He would destroy everything if I spilled. Just had to keep my eyes closed and get through this school year. Then I never would have to look back.

"Jade! Are you listening to a damn thing I've been saying?" Jay shouted.

I jerked my head back in his direction. "Fuck off, Jay. I'm tired. I'm just... I'm. I'm trying to wrap my head around everything."

"You promised me, Jade. You said you were done with the hard drugs. I don't care if you smoke a little weed, but the other stuff? You are going to end up killing yourself, or someone else." He scooted the chair back and went to leave the room, stopping at the door. He didn't turn around, but said one more thing to me. "Jade. You're going to lose me too if you keep this up. I can't watch you destroy yourself. I love you. You're my sister, but I won't stick around and watch you kill yourself from the inside out." With that, he walked out the door.

I didn't even realize a tear was rolling down my face until I felt it under my chin. My chest felt tight. It felt as though I couldn't breathe. I had to get myself under control. I don't cry. I moved my head back and forth across the blanket to dry what I could, and maneuvered my shoulder up to get my right cheek where the tear had initially fallen. Queen Bee was back, and in charge. Well, as soon as I could get these damn straps off.

Vance's POV:

I stood next to Owen in his dining room at the head of the table looking out at his young team, and my two dogs. My feet stood wide, my one arm crossed over my stomach and my other free to use while I spoke. "Thank you for letting us call this meeting with your team. We have a few things we would like to discuss with you. Owen is aware of our plans, but a vote is needed before it can happen."

"You are aware that we are in the middle of an assignment at Ashley Waters right now, correct?" Kota spoke up.

"Si. Owen has explained to me everything that is going on. We will not interfere with anything you are doing unless you need us to help out. With Owen's help, he has already talked to the school board, and it seems that they are so desperate to lower class sizes, that they are allowing two more 'teachers' to come aboard. Especially when they heard that they were with Owen's team and would not require pay. So Italian is now on the curriculum, and another gym class will be added." Everyone's head turned to Isaac.

"Dude, don't kill them." Luke laughed.

"Why does everyone assume I am going to hurt the kids?!" Isaac laughed.
