CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

Allies Welcome Aboard

(Playlist – Silent Anger by Miyavi & Takeshi Hosomi)

Thank you everyone for being patient. It is more than appreciated. I know I left it on quite a cliffy. Well wait no longer, here is the much anticipated chapter following the murder of McCoy.

Marco's POV:

I was a mess. I had turned Todd over to Blackbourne and Vance to question, while Isaac and I helped clean Jade up. She stood in shock as we carefully undressed her.

"Sweetie? I need you to pick up your foot." Like a robot, she did as I had asked, then put her foot back down as I took the small scrap of fabric and pearls away from her foot and put them into a black trash bag.

"Let's get you into the shower. Marco, do you want to help her?" Isaac had such a worried look on his face.

"Sure." I turned the water on and helped Jade step under the stream of water. Realizing that I was going to get wet as well, I slipped my shirt off so I could help her better. "Is the water warm enough, Jade?"

"Yes, thank you." She was pensive at the moment. I didn't know whether to interrupt her, or to let her work out whatever emotions or thoughts she needed to. Thankfully, she spoke up. "Marco?"

"Yes, Darling?" I continued to wash her back.

"I remember the wedding. I wanted to save everyone." She paused, playing with her small, dainty hands for a moment before rubbing her little baby bump. "But, I had a plan. I had a part to play. I think I know what happened. I-I know what I had planned, but I can't remember anything from getting into the car and then being inside the hanger."

She turned to face me and I knew she had worked out that she had murdered McCoy. I pulled her to me, the running water be damned. Her sobbing wracked her body, and damn near had me crying. "Shhh, it's okay my darling. It's all over." Leaning back, and looking at her beautiful green eyes, my thumb couldn't help but wipe away the tears. "We are a family, Jade. Whatever happened, happened. We will get through it." I was sure of it.

I finished washing and rinsing her hair and took her hand as she stepped out of the tiny cubicle, wrapping her in a soft, fluffy towel. She mumbled something into my shoulder that sounded like, "Thank you, Marco."

After dressing, we walked hand in hand to the main cabin of the private jet. The seats were all occupied by my team and Blackbourne's team, as well as the mystery that was Todd. Vance, and Owen were speaking to him.

"Thank you, Todd, for being patient. I know it seems that we keep asking you the same questions, but we are trying to understand your role in this charade better." Owen removed his glasses and wiped a hand down his face.

Todd stood as soon as he spotted Jade. "Are you okay, Miss Jade?"

Jade, who had been keeping her head down, no doubt deep in thought, looked up at Todd and smiled. "Yes, thank you. At least, I will be with time... I think." Suddenly, Jade turned to me with alarm. "Marco, the marriage! It's legal. I'm Mrs. McCoy. What do I do? How do we fix this? He wouldn't let me sign a pre-nup."

"I can answer that for you, Miss Jade." Todd spoke up. "I was the one who had to file the paperwork for Mr. McCoy. I told you that Mr. McCoy was also holding someone very dear to me. I had to do things for him I would rather not think of ever again. The promise was that once the wedding was over and these young men had left the country, I would be free to have my partner back. I did everything he asked, to a certain extent. I knew even before he kidnapped you, what his plans were. However, I had no way of knowing where you were or any way of contacting authorities at the time as I was, how do I put it? A bit under the weather from being taught a lesson about following orders. Regardless, I harbor a certain set of skills that lent me to procuring the documents on a less then legal manner. So, Miss Jade, you are in fact still not married. The documents were fake." Todd rocked back on his heels.
