Day 25

"Thank , I will cherish it forever " Joseph Pulitzer said to his grandson . "You like it grandpa ?" Alex said sitting in his lap . "Love it Alex" he said hugging him .

"Mommy ?" Alex said from Pulitzers lap . "Yes ?" "When will daddy be home ?" He said . "I don't know " Katherine said . Jack had been serving in Italy . Under the draft . Pulitzer did every thing he could . He tried to buy jacks way out . Even though he despises Jack but if it where for Alex he would do anything .

"I hope he comes soon mommy " Alex said . "Me too sweetheart " "do you think he'll be home by Christmas morning ?" "I don't know , I know that he'll try " "okay mommy " "how about we go to sleep " Katherine said . "Grandpa ? Can we put some cookies out for Santa ?" "Of course " Joseph then took Alex's hand and walked to his kitchen.

"Alright bedtime " Katherine said . Alex yawned , kissed his mother and grandfather and walked to his room .

"Dad do you think he'll be home ?" Katherine said . "Dear I know this has been a hard year for you and Alex . It's been a hard year for all of us " "dad , I know . But it's Alex I'm worried about " "what do you mean ?" "He needs a father and Jack left . why couldn't they just not do the draft ! Why couldn't Jack be 30 ! Instead of 28 ! Why couldn't be be just two years older ! Why do some women get their husband home and I don't ! Am I not a good person? Do I  not treat others fairly ? " "Katherine dear , listen I know it's hard " "dad I'm tired I'm going to sleep " "alright dear , love you " "love you too "

"Mommy ! Mommy ! Wake up wake up ! " "Alex ? What is it ?" "It's Christmas!" "Oh it is ?" "Yes ! " "so what does that mean ?" "Santa came !" "Really ?" "Yeah ! Let's go !" "Okay !"

"Grandpa ! Mommy ! Look Santa came !" "Alright !" Then Alex began to open presents. "Katherine, Alex this is a present from me " he said handing Katherine and envelope . "Look outside " Katherine said reading it .

Alex took Katherine's hand and dragged her outside .

"Merry Christmas!" Jack said . Alex screamed and ran to hug his father . "Daddy ! Your home !" "Yes I am , now can I hug mommy now ?" "Okay !" Katherine looked and saw Jack . "Jack ? JACK !"she said running to him . They then kissed very hard . Which ended when Jack picked her up and spun her around . "I missed you so much " "Katherine I missed you too " he said "I love Jack " "I love you Katherine "
