Rose started to follow her mom and Scorpius to the house when she heard that familiar crack that indicated someone had apparated. Rose looked through the glaring midday sun and spotted the silhouettes of two narrow figures standing across the yard.
"Uh, I'm going to go greet Victoire and Louis," Rose said to her mum, running off.
When she reached her cousins they each gave her a quick hug.
"It's so nice to see you guys again," said Rose, "but where's Dominique?"
"She is meeting her new boyfriend in France this weekend, "Louis answered, soundly slightly disgusted.
"Speaking of boyfriends," Victoire intersected, "how have you and Scorpius, is it, getting along?"
Rose rolled her eyes at that comment, "Just because I brought him up in a conversation one time, does not mean I have a crush on him."
"I've never heard you speak of any other boy that we aren't related to."
"Victoire," Louis said, with a slight whine, "let Rose be. If she doesn't want to talk about the dude then I wouldn't push it. I mean, if she isn't even interested in Scorpius then what is the probability that they'll end up together in a long steady relashonship?"
"I know what I am talking about here. If you have not noticed, every person that I have matched up with another person that they probably never gave a second thought to are happily together. Trust me, I'm good with people, you are good with... rocks."
"What makes you think I am good with rocks?" Louis questioned.
"You are good with jewelry design. Those gems do not just appear you know? They are forms of rocks."
Louis shrugged.
They reached the house and found James and Lily had arrived too and were talking around the kitchen table.
Rose squeezed her way through the mob of relatives and made it to the living room. She started her way up to her bedroom, but when she passed by Hugo's room she heard her name mentioned. Why would they be talking about her? The faint chatter of voices reached her ear as she crept closer, now interested about their talk. Usually, Rose was not known for eavesdropping on conversations, but these were were cousins and Scorpius. That never meant good if they were conspiring against her or something. There was a small crack in the doorway which helped Rose understand more of what they were talking about.
"Seriously!" Hugo exclaimed with shocked delight. " I need to go tell her!"
"No!" Scorpius blurted out.
"You'd be stupid to start a gossip over this," said Louis. "You'd be worse than Victoire."
"I agree with Lou here," said Albus. "Anyway, I want to see how this plays out.
"When did you start liking her?" James asked.
"You should tell her how you feel," said Hugo.
"See? This is why I never tell you people anything," said Scorpius.
"Come on, please?" Hugo begged. "It's never good to hold in emotions like that. It only leads to destruction of the heart."
"How do you know that?" Scorpius asked.
"I just do."
"Just tell us when!" James forced.
"No. Why would I trust you with my secrets?"
"Because I will tell you how Avalon and I met," bribed Albus.
There was silence for a moment. Rose knew that Albus was touchy when someone asked when and where he had met Avalon. She didn't understand why it was so classified.
