" Gilbert, pay attention. " The familiar plastic ruler slammed on the silver-haired boy's table, causing him to awake.
" Yeah, yeah. " Gilbert waved his teacher, Ms. Kirkland, ( Fem! England lol ) off. The teacher was intimidating at first, but now Gilbert had gotten used to her.
" I'm serious Gilbert, this is the last straw. One more time and you're sent to the principal's office. "
" Sure teach. " The students were staring at him, but he didn't care, he didn't give two shits about what they thought of him. After all, after this final year of high school, everyone would be out of each other's way, right?
" Excuse you Gilbert, it's Ms. Kirkland. " She glared at him, huffed and went back to teaching.
Her name was Alice Kirkland, but in here she wanted to be addressed as Ms. Kirkland. It didn't help that her half-sister, Amelia, decided to call her " Allie ". Not that there was something wrong with the name, it just didn't fit. It didn't make her feel like a grown woman.
" And so, homework to be submitted on- "< RING >
" WOOOO! "
The bell lured all of the students out of the classroom, out of school. Alice let out a sigh of relief, she didn't want to have to mark the homework that her students rushed to complete. It really was just sickening.
" Gilbert, stay behind! I want to talk to you. " Alice called out to her student.
Gilbert sighed and put his bag down.
" Yeah, teach? "
" Are you... Alright? " Alice questioned, green eyes flashing at her student, as if she was analyzing him, searching for clues of a lie.
" Why wouldn't I be? " Gilbert scrunched his face up in confusion.
" Your grades are slipping, you have that I-don't-care-attitude and you never seem to rush out of school like the other students do. What is wrong? " Alice asked again, this time with a softer tone in her voice.
" Ja, teach. I'm okay. My grades are always slipping, it doesn't make a difference. " Gilbert was a tad bit annoyed at his teacher for being so over-paranoid about him.
" You don't have a tutor? I could tutor you if you want. "
" No need, teach. I'm fine. And let me tell you, " Gilbert said. " I don't rush out immediately like the others do after school is because I don't want to be caught up in a human jam with them. Now are we done? I need to go home. "
Alice fell silent.
Well, he had a point.
" Yes, we're done. But remember, you can always come to me if you need any help, Gilbert." Sighed Alice as she reminded the silver-haired boy.
" Yeah yeah. " Gilbert picked up his school bag and ran off.
" That kid... " Alice sighed once more. " He's odd indeed. "Gilbert sighed, walking briskly home. He was hungry, he needed to go home and have lunch.
Whilst walking, he spotted a blonde haired kid with the strange curl on his head. He wore glasses, too.
Gilbert's eyes narrowed.
He could've sworn he saw the kid before.
C'mon, think!
After awhile, Gilbert had finally got it. The kid was in his History class, as well as his Geography class. He never seemed to talk though, he was like the most quietest kid in class.
And so, he pranced over, curious about the kid. He wanted to get to know him more. What was his deal, anyway? Why is he so quiet? Was he hiding anything? Gilbert couldn't resist. He wanted to play Sherlock Holmes, and place the puzzle pieces together one by one. He wanted to solve the puzzle, regardless whether or not there was a reward for him in the end.
" Hey kid! "
" MAPLE! " The kid screamed in response.
Gilbert laughed in his head, this kid was sure interesting.
" G-Gilbert? " The kid stuttered, glasses nearly slipping off his face.
Gilbert's red orbs eyed the kid curiously.
" Hey, 'sup kid! " Gilbert grinned.
" I-I have a name, you know... "
" I know. You're Matthew, right? Matthew Williams? "
Instantly, Matthew's heart skipped a beat. No one had ever remembered his name. Why now? Why had Gilbert, of all people, noticed him? He didn't want anything to do with Gilbert! He was trouble. But still, he couldn't be rude. At least for now.
" Er, yes. I am. You're Gilbert, right? " Matthew asked, not bothering to try to pronounce his last name. It was too confusing.
" You guessed right, Matt! " Gilbert smirked.
" Matt? " Matthew raised a brow.
" It's a nickname for you. Are you okay with it? "
" Yes, I am. Then I suppose I should call you Gil, right? " Matthew laughed slightly.
Gilbert was surprised. This was the first time he heard the kid laugh.
" Y-Yeah. I like it! Gil... It has a nice ring to it. " He smirked.
" I'm glad you like it. "
Just when Gilbert was about to say something, he realized he already reached his house.
" So uh. This is my stop, see ya tomorrow? "
" See you tomorrow, Gilbert. "
Gilbert waved and stepped into his house, shutting the door behind him.
Once he was gone, Matthew sighed.
Little did Gilbert know, that he wouldn't see him tomorrow. And not for the next 8 years.A/N
Hey guys!
So this is my first chapter of " Lonely Lovers ". Do you like it? Feel free to comment and voice your opinions! This story will be having a slow flow to it, and it develops slowly, so you should only read if you're fine with that. If you're willing to wait for a romance, then go ahead! Also, just letting you guys know, I won't be doing like, intimate romance scenes like smuts because I don't feel comfortable with writing those kinds of... Things, and I'm too young as well. But I guess there will be some fluffyness and drama, as a substitute! ^^
