Chapter 9

" So Gilbert... Why did you get fired from your last job? " Matthew asked his soon-to-be employee.
Gilbert sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose in exasperation.
" You're not gonna believe me when I say this. It's completely ridiculous... "
" Just tell me, Gil. "
" Okay, so here's how it goes. You see, Ivan Braginsky, a Russian, took me into his company after I graduated. I've been working there, but his sister, Natalya, who was also the vice-head of the company, got jealous because she thinks that Ivan gives me too much attention and relies on me too much. So, she got me fired. "
" I see... Interesting. Don't worry, he in our company, we don't have these sorts of people, so you should be fine. Let me inform you first, each secretary of mine only has a 2 year contract, so after that, you either try to get a new job somewhere else or if there's another position in my company that's free, you can take it. "
Gilbert raised a brow.
" Can I renew the contract? "
" Um... I don't normally renew my secretary's contracts. It depends... If I think you're doing a good enough job, you can have me renew the contract. Do you know what to do as my secretary? "
" Of course, the awesome me isn't dumb. I just have to run errands for you, right? "
" Yes, as well as follow me to meeting that I have with other companies' bosses. Oh and, Ivan will be there as well. "
" Do you know my ex-boss? "
" Yes in fact... He's my rival in business. "
" Wait... What? "
" Moving on! So, you're hired. You have the first day free, what do you want to do? "
" Well... I want to know more about you. "
" Ask me anything, I have time. "
" Why don't we go to my place? My friends want to know more about you, too. "
Matthew chuckled and smirked slightly.
" Are you asking me out on a date? "
Gilbert's face flushed, quickly shaking his head.
" N-No! Of course not. "
" I'm just kidding, come on, let's go. "
Gilbert still blushing slightly, grabbed Matthew by his arm and dragged outside the building to his house.
" So tell me more about yourself Gilbert, I wanna know more about you. "
Gilbert scratched the back of his head.
" Well, I'm a Prussian, a badass one at that. I have a German younger brother, but my parents passed away, so I'm raising him by myself. "
" Isn't that kinda hard? "
" Sometimes, but we're doing okay. What about you? "
Matthew sighed. Since Gilbert told him basically everything, he had to spill.
" Okay, you know Alfred, he's my brother. We used to grow up together, until he went to Florida to work. I have parents, but they're bad ones. They favor my brother over me, and always blame me for everything. That's why I stay away from them, I moved out recently, and I'm living by myself. "
" Ouch, sounds harsh. "
" I know, but I get over it. Maybe I'm just not lucky enough to have good parents. "
Gilbert smirked.
" Well you're lucky enough to have me as your boyfriend! "
" I don't think so Gilbert. I only knew you for two days, I'm not going to date you that easily. I'm not a pushover. " Matthew smirked back.
" We'll see. "
That's where the conversation ended, and the two walked in silence, each of them drowning in their own thoughts.
Gilbert frowned slightly, narrowing his eyes. He wanted Matthew to be his boyfriend, but he didn't want to at the same time. He was afraid of giving Matthew too much of his attention, pushing away his friends and Ludwig. He was very well confused at this point. He didn't know what he wanted anymore. He was stuck.
Matthew however, had everything straightened out. He knew what he wanted, and that was Gilbert. He wanted to be with Gilbert, to be happy for once. But he knew that he couldn't succumb to his charms that quickly. He wanted to get to know Gilbert more before getting together with him. He knew that there was something wrong when he was attracted to the silver haired, red eyed Prussian, but he didn't care.
Both Matthew and Gilbert knew they lived in a really weird world. It was as if everyone was gay. Lovino was gay, Antonio was gay, followed by Alfred, Francis, Arthur, Mathias, Lukas, Ludwig, Feliciano, so on and then finally themselves.
" We're here. " Gilbert finally spoke up before opening the door.
" Ladies first... "
" Haha, you're so funny. " Matthew rolled his eyes and walked in, followed by Gilbert.

Ludwig sighed to himself. It had only been two days since his brother went off, but he missed him already. He knew he couldn't stop him, though. He knew Gilbert was simply trying his best for Ludwig. Gilbert even told him himself. If Gilbert had a choice, he would stay with Ludwig. But he didn't. Ludwig knew about Gilbert's job, and was happy for him. He finally had someone to be able to communicate with besides Ludwig.
Ludwig for once, was lonely. He had two friends to keep him company, but it didn't replace the hole in his heart which belonged to Gilbert, his brother.

Lovino groaned as he rolled around in his bed. It was getting boring without Antonio around.
He didn't realize how much Antonio meant to him until he was gone, and he regretted not being nicer to the Spaniard for once. He knew that wherever his trio went, Antonio went. He wanted to resent Gilbert for this, but he knew he couldn't. It wasn't right to, neither Antonio's or Gilbert's life was in his control.
The house felt so empty and quiet without Antonio around. Lovino missed the sound of Antonio's voice. It completed the house when Antonio was around. Without Antonio, it was like Lovino had no idea what to do. Like he couldn't do anything. He hated feeling useless, and wished that Antonio would come back instantly.
Without feeling it, Lovino's eyes welled up with tears and he let them loose, knowing that there was no one around to stop him.

By the way, I need to let you readers know something. It's super important, so please read!
It's the start of 2016, and for me, I live in Singapore ( a multicultural country/city in Asia ) so that means school is starting on Monday. ( Yeah we have our holidays in June, November and December. )
This year is a very busy and stressful year for me as I'm taking a major exam. I'm graduating this year, so I'm gonna be busy on weekdays and most likely can't update until weekends.
( I'll most likely be studying a lot, my math is screwed up )
But don't worry, I may be able to update more in December and November, as well as June because that's when we have our breaks.
