" Gilbert, I said pay attention! " Alice yelled, face flushed with anger.
" Ja, okay. "
" Seriously, what is wrong with you? Stop being so rude as to daydream during my lessons!"
Gilbert rolled his eyes and scoffed, he couldn't care less on what this old goat had to say.
Well, actually, she wasn't old at all. She was in her twenties, and that was actually pretty young for a teacher. But as I said before, Gilbert didn't care at all.
Unfortunately for him, Alice saw him rolling his eyes and heard him scoff. Her eyebrows furrowed as she screeched,
" PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE, NOW! "
Gilbert yawned and walked out of the classroom. He could feel everyone's stares on his back, but he just continued to walk. He could even hear his teacher growl.
Gilbert couldn't help but feel angry at his teacher.
Did she even try to understand why he couldn't concentrate on the lesson?
Did she even care? No! She didn't! All she cared about was everyone paying attention to her stupid lesson and nothing else! Did she even notice that Matthew wasn't here today? No!
The Prussian vented his anger in silence until he saw the dark oak door that had the word,
' principal ' trimmed with gold on top.
Sighing, he opened the door.
" Gilbert Beilschmidt. " Principal Roderich growled.
" Sir. "
" Ms. Kirkland told me all about your behavior today. "
Gilbert stayed silent, finding nothing to say to the principal.
" That was totally unacceptable. Do you want me to expel you? "
Gilbert shook his head.
" No, sir. "
" Then you better back up. "
" Understood, sir. " Said Gilbert robotically.
Principal Roderich glanced at the student he took in.
" Are you sure there's nothing wrong? "
Gilbert flinched.
" What do you mean, sir? "
Gilbert knew exactly what he meant.
" Your grades were never like this. Not when you were in primary school. Now you're a complete flunk. I remember when you were scoring straight A's in Primary school, what happened to that? "
Gilbert stayed silent. He absolutely could not tell Principal Roderich. He wasn't a baby anymore, he could handle himself just fine. But his mind couldn't stop the flashback from playing in his head, though.

Flashback

" Gilbert! Come join us! "
" No, Gilbert, join us! "
" Hey Gil! Wanna come to my house for a play date? "
" Ooh, Gilbird is so cute! "
" I wanna see! Can I touch Gilbird? "
Gilbert couldn't help but chuckle in his mind.
In Primary school, times were good. He and Gilbird were the super popular duo, and wherever Gilbert went, Gilbird followed. He felt loved, and he loved being loved. Everyone would always invite him to sit and play with them during break time.
Everyone thought he was cool, the way his silver hair shimmered in the sunlight, and the way his red orbs glowed. It made boys envious, girls faint. Not to mention he had perfect grades as well...

Flashback End

" Gilbert! "
" Huh? " Gilbert yelped.
" May I ask why you hate high school so much? "
Gilbert crossed his arms over his chest.
" Because it sucks. "
" Why? "
" ...... " There was a pregnant pause, with Gilbert staring at Principal Roderich and Principal Roderich doing the same. The pause had become too long, and Gilbert started to become uncomfortable, so he drifted away to yet another flashback.

Flashback

" Oof! " 13-year old Gilbert yelped when he tripped over a random guy's foot.
" Watch it, twerp. " The burly guy growled at Gilbert. Once the guy stormed off, Gilbert rolled his eyes and blushed in embarrassment when he heard girls giggling at the hilarious trip he made.
What a brilliant start, Gilbert grumbled.
" Look at his silver hair! "
" What about those red eyes? What the heck? "
Gilbert could feel his eye twitch in annoyance as he heard the bitchy stereotypical sounds of girls behind him. He knew they were talking about him, but not in a good way. He was frustrated, normally girls would swoon over him, but now they were talking about him as if he was a creep. Boys were no longer envious of his exotic look, they found it weird now.
" Gilbert! " A teacher ran up to him.
" Yes? "
" What is this horrendous result of a test! " The crazy teacher screeched.
So, Gilbert decided to snatch the paper from his teacher's grasp to see for himself.
On the paper, there was a big red ' F ' and a ' see me '. Why was everything falling apart? Now even his grades couldn't hold up!
Gilbert sighed.
It was just the first day and he had enough of high school already. If there was one thing Gilbert learnt, it was that Primary School was to be enjoyed to the fullest. After that, high school comes and you'll wish you were dead already.

Flashback End

" Gilbert! " Shouted Principal Roderich, making Gilbert's hair stand on end.
" Y-Yes, sir? " He spluttered out.
Principal Roderich rubbed the bridge of his nose, wondering what was wrong with this student and his habit to daydream.
" Honestly, can you stop daydreaming when I'm talking to you? " He snapped.
" Sorry. " Gilbert scratched the back of his head.
" Anyway, I've been meaning to ask you something. "
" Ask away. "
Principal Roderich then pointed at the top of Gilbert's head and asked,
" Where is your pet bird? "
Gilbert's Crimson orbs widened and began to well up.
" Gilbert? "
" I... I got to go. " With that, Gilbert choked back a sob as he made a mad dash for the door, nearly colliding into a chair on his way out.
" Gilbert! What do you think you're doing... "
Gilbert paid Principal Roderich no attention as he ran and ran, his principal's voice disappearing slowly with every step he took.
Once he was out of school grounds, Gilbert let his tears fly down his cheek as he ran and ran like the wind. He just had to get away from Principal Roderich. It was like Principal Roderich was a demon, taunting him for the death of Gilbird.
Finally, after what felt like years of running, he spotted his house and whacked the door open. ( like an epic ninja, except the crying just made it 50% less awesome D: )
Ludwig gaped as he watched his brother ( a full grown man, mind you, ) run all the way to his room, crying as he did so.
Never had he seen his brother cry like this in ages. Heck, he never saw his brother cry before. Never in his life, had he seen Gilbert look so broken.

Gilbert sobbed into his bedsheets, not caring whether he stained them with his tears or not.
Gilbert had already gotten over Gilbird's death. But now, he was starting to remember again. He didn't want to remember, he wanted to forget about Gilbird's death, but at the same time, he didn't want to forget about Gilbird, his old buddy. All because of Principal Roderich, he became a crying mess.

Gilbert was such a naive child. He didn't know Gilbird was aging, and thought that Gilbird would stay by his side forever, going on adventures with him.
Turns out he was wrong. Very wrong.
Just when he was about to enter high school, Gilbird passed away. It tore him apart completely.

" Gilbird... " Sniffled Gilbert, hugging his pillow, crying himself to sleep.
