Luke's POV:
Luke and Alaina had stayed in a cheap motel room that night. They had agreed that they needed to save their money for a more permanent place to live. Saving money had never been a problem because there was always so much of it in their house. There had been a large amount hidden under Alaina's bed for emergencies, for which they were etternally grateful for. It was quite the amount so getting a job wouldn't be an immediate issue for the twins.
Luke had brought a bag with some things he would need for the night. He chose the bed closest to the door. His sister, as a child, was afraid that someone would come in the door and kill her while she slept. He always took the bed closest to the door and told her that anything that wanted to hurt her would have to go through him first. Now she wasn't scared, she wouldn't admitt to it if she was, but Luke still took the bed by the door. He wasn't sure if it was just a habit or if he liked to prove he was braver.
He sighed and pulled his laptop from his bag. It would be impossible to sleep so instead he got a head start on appartment searching. They didn't need a house and it would be cheaper to rent an appartment. He was searching for a two room appartment that was somewhere in the city. It was a big city with lots of appartment buildings, so there should be some available.
Alaina had fallen asleep awhile ago but he had been online for hours. Luke's eyelids started to close while he stared at the screen. He figured he better sleep soon. It had been a long day. He had woken up that morning, with a great job and a roof over his head. In a few hours he had lost it all. He still had Alaina. She was more than just a sister. She was also his best friend. She was there when he needed her.
He remembered the pact they had made on their tenth birthday. They had promised that no matter what happens, they would stay together. He kept his promise and she had kept hers. That was a promise that he intended to keep.
When he just couldn't take it anymore, he closer his laptop and plugged it in to charge. He then dragged himself into bed and let his eyelids finally close like they had been trying to do for hours.
Tomorrow was another day. He would worry about it when it happened. For now he just let sleep take him away.
