Unknown POV:
Something was off.
He had never been quite right since the day his wife died. That job as lead scientist at the university was all h had left. He burried his sorrows in his work. Instead of crying he had decided that he would find a way to bring her back.
He was so determined that he never left the office anymore. He had a mini fridge under his desk and the couch had become his bed. That was all he needed now. He worked until he passed out and then he was up at the crack of dawn.
He was quite aware that this was very unhealthy behaviour. He chose to ignore it. Nothing would prevent him from reaching his goal. He had worked to hard to give up and besides, he had nothing left.
He began his studies with rats as his test subjects. He could already make them move but there brains were still dead. They were simply puppets. It was still a life changing discovery but he brushed off his colleages as they congratualated him. He only wanted to gain his wife's approval when he brought her back to life.
He was thinking about what next step he would take in his reasearch when he remembered a vital piece of information.
It was a regular night, just after everyone else had gone home. His two lab assistants had stayed with him to help finish the project they had been working on. The girl yawned and he brother said that he could help with the project and she could go home.
The boy's name was Luke. The lead scientist had been carefully watching the twinss as they worked. He only worked with people he trusted. He needed to know if he could trust them both. The girl, Alaina, was a hard worker but her brother had more of the brains. He had a feeling that Luke was much smarter than he was acting. Why would he pretend to be less smart though?
An idea entered his mind. He calmly asked the boy to check the wiring and make sure everything was in place. Then he told him that if anything looked out of place he was free to change it. He then excused himself. He walked to his office and checked the security camera footage from the lab.
He watched as Luke switched and replaced wire after wire. It looked like the kid was just messing with the whole project. He stormed back down the hall and swug open the door.
What he saw made his jaw drop right through the floor and into the ground. The dead rat in the glass box with all the wires attached had begun to twitch. Luke had done what he couldn't.
Luke had made the rat move...
He brought his mind back to the present. Lately he had not gotten any closer to his final goal because he had assigned his assistants elsewhere.
He needed Luke. The worst part was that he had just been notified that his assistants had resigned. He punched his desktop in frusteration. Mixing random chemicals could only get him so far. He neded Luke's brain to help him.
He would do whatever it takes to get Luke back. His mind might not have been in the right place because when he said anything, he litterally meant anything...
