I feel bad for not updating so I wrote this as an apology. I'm at my friend canadiansos's house so I can use her wifi to update:). Since she is the reason I am updating, this chapter is dedicted to canadiansos. Enjoy my update written during a serious case of writer's block:-).
Mad Scientist's POV:
The need for human flesh was making him shake with horror. He faintly remembered killing. He remembered the sound of bones cracking as he flung that man against the wall. He remembered the smell. He loved that smell. It made him feel strong. He wanted to have more.
"NO!"
He threw the lamp against the wall of his house. These thoughts wouldn't stop haunting him. He fell to his knees and let out a cry of frustration. What had he done? Why was this happening to him? Why? Why? Why? He put his hands tightly over his ears as if to block out the thoughts.
He didn't ask for this. He didn't even know how this happened. He tried to remember but his ind was rotting away. The memories broken into pieces. Some pieces were gone altogether. He yelled out, frustrated by his own mind.
He pulled himself together and sat down on a chair. He closed his eyes and pulled every piece of his shattered memory together. It was exhausting. The sweat began to drip down his face as he concentrated.
Then all of a sudden, he gasped as the memory returned.
He had found a formula. The formula to revive his wife. His wife...
He stood in his lab. The body of his deceased wife lay on the metal table. He had created the machine to revive her, and it had been hooked up to the body. He turned it on with the big red button.
He stood back and waited as the machine began to beep. He watched in awe as the light turned green. It had finished its job, now it was up to fate. His wife began to twitch.
He gasped. He expected it to work but there was a part of him that doubted if it would. His wife sat up rather abruptly and turned her head to face him.
He stepped up to her and placed his hand on her shoulder, reaching out with the other to touch her cheek softly. He was in shock. She looked just as he had remembered, because he had preserved her body in his basement for months.
Then he realized that the skin beneath his hands was cold. Colder than any human skin should be. She looked at him with a blank expression as he went to withdraw his hands. She snapped her mouth open and he cringed at the sight. She was rotten from the inside.
She growled deeply and grabbed his forearm with inhuman strenght. He tried to pull away, suddenly afraid of his wife. If you could even call her that. What had he done.
She took her teeth and sunk them into his flesh. Blood pooled onto the floor from around her lips.
He snapped out of his frozen state from the pain and yanked himself away, as hard as he could. Somehow he managed to escape. He ran out of the lab, clutching his bleeding arm. He slammed the bullet proof glass doors shut, and swung the metal bars -he had installed them in case of an emergency- down across the doors.
He ran into the bathroom and tried to recover from the shock. He washed his arm the best h could and wrapped his lab coat around it. He splashed water on his face, as if trying to wash away the sight that was so clearly imprinted in his mind.
He turned the tap off and looked up at himself in the mirror. The pain in his arm was no longer occupying his thoughts as he caught sight of his face in the mirror. He no longer had control of his thoughts and actions. His face had begun to rot. It was grayer than the walls and his cheek was rotted out. With his eyes very bloodshot, he looked insane. He felt insane.
He growled as he watched himself walk into the hallway, as if he was no longer in his own body. He had no control. He had to make it stop. His body spotted someone walked out of a door. That poor person looked afraid as the creepy looking man began to bite his arm. He tried tpo make himself stop but the monster that he had become, was stronger.
He watched as it bit or ate all the other workers in the lab as they screamed in fear. It was like the monster had trapped him in a box in the back of his own mind. He could observe but not interfere.
He pulled his mind out of the memory. He didn't want to witness what he knew would come next. The murder of Luke and Alaina's parents.
Before he found what he thought had been a cure, he might have killed them on purpose to get to Luke. He had waited though, to see if Luke would come back on his own. He regretted everything he had done to bring his wife back. He never wanted to hurt Luke's parents. He really like him and his sister. They had real potential. He needed to stop himself before the monster took over again.
He knew what he had to do.
He had to act quickly before the monster came back, or before he fully became the monster. He ran to basement and found the tank which had held his wife. It was empty of everything now. It was still wet with the liquid he had used to preserve the body. He opened the door and locked it with the key. He threw the key into a corner and jumped into the tank. He pulled the door shut behind him and he heard the lock click. He was trapped, but so was the monster. He had sacrificed himself to safe whoever would have been killed by the monster.
It was the right punishment for what he had done. He would be alone with his shattered thoughts, until he died of starvation or dehydration.
The other workers at the lab were probably out turning people into more monsters right now. It was all his fault. The fight for survival against these monsters had begun.

I bet no one saw that coming. I hope I surprised you! A few chapters ago it had hinted that The scientist had killed Luke and Alaina's parents to get to Luke but nope. This is the truth of how the apocalypse began. Now I get to write some people's deaths. I feel evil writing these chapters. Who will be first though...
