Chapter 14: Boyfriend

I was switching through channels trying to watch something. Anything to get my mind off stuff. I tried to not think about Mom or Dad. To not think about what happened to them. Dad with the bullet wound or Mom on the hospital bed. I went to Mom's funeral yesterday and visited Dad at the cemetery. I promised myself not to cry but that didn't work out.

I kept on looking and clicking. Nothing seems interesting now a days. I sighed in frustration and turned off the TV. I got up off the living room couch and went to my room upstairs. I closed my door and stared at my mini book shelf by my bed scanning the books. After a few minutes of looking, I finally agreed to read Vampire Academy. I opened the book and started reading.

15 minutes later

'Clank'

I jumped at the sound. I looked around to see where it came from.

'Clank'

There it was again. I put down my book and stood in the middle of my room looking around.

'Clank'

I looked at my window and saw that that was where the sound was coming from. I went closer and looked through. There standing in my backyard was Justin with rocks in his hand.

"Katherine!" He said.

I opened my window and popped my head out. "What are you doing here?"

"I came to see you." He said as he started climbing up my tree but I stopped him.

"Wait don't come up. I'll come down." I went downstairs and to the sliding door that led to the backyard. I went toward Justin and hugged him smelling his amazing cologne.

"Hey." He said.

"Hi." I laughed. We pulled away and I smiled. "Wanna go up in my treehouse and look at the stars?" I pointed to the treehouse. It was made out of wood and has a wooden ladder that leads up to a small square room. Outside it has a little fence surrounding it.

"Sure." He said. We went up the stairs and layed down facing the ceiling of the small square room. I went behind a curtain and pulled a rope. The ceiling went away and out appeared the stars. 

"Wow." Justin said.

I layed back down next to him and looked up. "I know. The stars are so pretty. Don't you think?"

"Yeah."

"So why did you come?"

"Well, I wanted to see how you were doing. I'm so sorry about your mom." He turned to look at me.

"It's okay. I guess it was meant to happen for a reason."

He grabbed my hand and intertwined it with his. I turned my head to our hands and looked up at him. I noticed the stars made his eyes sparkle perfectly. He gave me a smile and I gave him one back. I looked back at the stars enjoying his company. We layed there in comfortable silence. Once in a while, he would squeeze my hand gently or caress my thumb with his. 

After a while, he broke the silence. "Katherine, I need to tell you something."

I turned my head to look at him. "What is it?"

He took a deep breath and looked in my eyes. "I...." He trailed off.

I waited for him to finish but he never did. I furrowed my eyebrows. "What?"

He continued looking at me and put his thumb on my cheek coming closer. "You're beautiful. Be mine?"

I parted my lips and my heart started pumping faster as he came closer to my face. He stopped once we were inches apart. "Yes." I answered smiling.

I looked at his lips then back at his eyes. I couldn't take it anymore so I finished the distance and kissed him. I put my hand on his side as he deepened the kiss. We pulled away out of breath and rested our foreheads together. I opened my eyes and smiled as he smiled back. 

"When do you have to leave?" I asked.

"Whenever you want me to."

"I don't want you to."

"Well I can't stay too long."

"Just stay for another hour. Please."

"Okay." He gave me a short kiss and stood up.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

He ignored my question and instead, he asked,"Do you have a guitar?" He held out his hands and I took them.

"Yeah, why?"

"I want to play you something."

I smiled. "Really?"

"Yeah."

"Okay. I'll be right back." I went down the ladder and into my house upstairs to my room. I grabbed my guitar that was leaned against the wall near my bed and went back out to the treehouse.

I saw Justin standing with his hands in his pockets looking up at the stars. I smiled and handed him my guitar. We sat on the ground facing each other.

"Thanks."

"No problem. So what are you gonna play?"

"It's one of my songs on my album but it says what I want it to and I'm 100% sure you've heard it before." He chuckled.

"Okay." I smiled.

He positioned my guitar and started playing. I recognized the beat and smiled wider.

"'If I was your boyfriend, I'd never let you go

I got money on my hands that I'd really like blow

Yeah...on you'" He sang and I was singing along silently. I watched as he was looking at me the whole time. His eyes twinkling. I couldn't stop smiling. He finished the song and put down the guitar. I hugged him and he hugged back.

"I loved it. No one's ever done that for me."

"Well, now they have." He pulled away and cupped my face in his hands. "I love you."

I melted and kissed him. I placed my hands on his chest as he kissed me back. We pulled away a minute later. "I love you too." I told him.

He smiled and I hugged his torso. He put his arms around me and we looked up at the stars.

"What time is it?" I asked.

"9:30. I have to go back in five minutes."

"Okay. I'll walk you."

"Ok."
