Being here- Chapter 45

This chapter will be written in Matt's POV!

Everything's good. This trip was good for the both of us. We just got away and we had time. We had a great time, really. I was ready to be back at work. The job keeps you sane. It kind of keeps you alive too. It's the people that make the job better. It's going to work that is good. Everyone at 51 is the best. We have the best firefighters and paramedics here. Were all a team. We can't the job done alone. That's not how it works in this city. It doesn't work at all like that.

It was going to be hard to be away from Gabby for these next 24 hours. We deal with that. It's just these past few days have been so good. We were just really getting to talk. It was good for us. It was nice to get away while it lasted. My alarm went off at 7. Gabby was still sleeping, and it was silent. I got ready for work. I kissed Gabby on her head " bye baby!" She woke up " It's shift time... already.." I nodded " yeah.. I love you! see you later!" 

At the house

It is good to be back. I got to my office and just caught up on everything before we got some calls. I walked out to the main room. Hermann saw me walk in the room " Hey lieutenant!!!" Everyone came towards me to say hello. I laughed and sat down " Hi everyone!" Cruz asked " How was the... trip?" I laughed " It was great!" Brett asked "What did you do..?" I looked at her " Relaxed.." Really I didn't need to go into details. A lot of things couldn't and didn't need to be said. That was only for us. It's all between us. 

We got calls and this was work again. I was getting back into everything. This is my life and I wouldn't change it all, not at all.
