Chapter 27

[Winterpaw's POV]

"Come on! Wake up!" I heard someone say. I opened my eyes slowly and found out it was dark where I was. There wasn't even moonlight. Above me was a black tom with some white specks on his face and on his tail.

"Who are you?" I asked not getting up since I didn't have the strength.

"I'm Bane. Who is the lovely shecat that I saved from the river?" He asked with a small purr.

"I'm Winterpaw." I told him and laid my head back down.

"Oh, a clan cat. I guess you want to go back to your clan." He said and started to pad to the other side of the den.

"No, wait. I mean, yea I want to go home but I don't think I'm ready to go yet." I told him. He seemed nice and I didn't want to leave him all alone.

"No, you can go ahead and go back to your clan. Which one is it? LavaClan? LightningClan? Oh maybe it's WarClan! No, they don't have any white cats anymore. Maybe your from SwanClan." He said. I didn't even know those clans.

"I'm not from any of those? I'm from DepthClan. How far have you traveled?" I asked him a little confused.

"Oh, I've never heard of that clan. I've traveled for a half moon but then I stayed here." He said.

"How long of a travel is it from here to LavaClan or the other clans you were talking about?" I asked him kinda curious now.

"How long can you run for?" He asked me.

"Um, I'm not really sure. I think I can run for a while."

"Then maybe a quarter moon if we are lucky."

"That's awesome! Could you take me there?"

"I could. Want to go there?"

"I would love to go. Can we start the journey now?"

"No, you need to rest. You seemed weak when I got you out of the river. I want you to be at full strength if we are going to do this."

"Fine. I just want to learn more though." I scoffed trying to get him to let me go.

"Hey, no complaining! I could of left you in that river to drown." He hissed. My fur bristled a little and I buried my head on my paws.

"You should of left me. I was on my way to StarClan." I mumbled not wanting him to hear me.

"What was that?"

I poked my head up to look at him. He looked like he was about to murder some cat. I said nothing and he stepped closer to me.

"I said, what was that?" He growled deeply.

I still said nothing trying to figure out how much I could get away with. It was my own little experiment with him.

"Never mind then. Go to sleep. We can set off in the morning. I'll go hunting. Stay in the cave please. I don't want you drowning anymore." He purred a little then walked toward the entrance of the cave.

"Goodnight." I whispered and closed my eyes to go to sleep.
