I woke up the next morning with a pounding headache. I went into my bathroom and filled up the cup next to my sink with water. I gulped down the whole glass and went back into my room. I saw a blinking light on my phone so I went to check it.
Eva had called my phone seven times and text me three times. I dialed her number and she answered after the third ring. “Aisley! I tried calling you all last night and you wouldn’t answer! What happened to you last night?”
“I was with a guy and got a little drunk. Nolan found me and took me home.”
“I’m just so glad to hear that you are okay.” I hung up the phone with Eva and went back to sleep. I woke up around three.
When I woke up I felt a little hungry. I went to the kitchen to eat a snack. Nolan and his best friend, Steven, were sitting in the living room playing video games. Nolan glanced at me when I walked through the room. He paused the game and followed me into the kitchen. “Are you any better than last night?”
“Nolan, I’m sorry for last night. Thank you for being there for me.” I grabbed a bag of pretzels and went back to my room and watched Netflix for the rest of the day.
School on Monday was way different. Unlike before, guys were actually looking at me. I walked into my first block class and Eva was sitting in her usually seat. I took the seat next to her and threw my books onto the table. “Hey Aisley. I have something to tell you. Alex was texting me yesterday and he told me that he has a friend that likes you. Alex and I came up with the idea to set you on a blind date with him this weekend!”
“What!?! You got to be kidding me Eva!”
“What harm can it do? Live a little Aisley. It’s our senior year remember?”
“Okay, fine! I’ll do it!” I dreaded agreeing with her.
The rest of the week was pretty normal. We had cheer practice every day after school. We were getting ready for the first football game next Friday. Other than that the week was a bore.
Friday came along way to early. That evening Eva came over and helped me get ready for my blind date. She picked out my outfit, did my hair and makeup. “Okay Aisley, Alex just text me and said that your date is ready. He is waiting for you outside of the downtown diner.”
I walked out with Eva and got into my car. She followed me all the way to the restaurant and parked outside to make sure I went on the date. I got out of my car and walked up to the diner. As I approached the diner, my secret date turned around holding flowers. I looked from the flowers up to his face. Right then my jaw dropped to the ground.
