Ding !

Diana looks over at her phone, vibrating on the table. The screen lights up for a moment. A message from Ifkar asking what time she would be home. She ignored the message and continue reading previous reports of the patients. She got plenty to see for her clinic session this morning but she hopes all went well.

When she is ready to meet them, she starts calling the number. An elderly peeked through the door.

"Puan Mazidah?" The patient nodded with a smile. "Silakan." Diana gestured to a chair perpendicular to hers. The lady strode inside and took her seat. Carefully walking as she is carrying another two lifes inside her.

"Ap khabar hari ni ?", Diana starts enquiring to ensure her comfort.

"Alhamdulillah baik, doktor."

"Okay macam ni ye puan. Haritu kita dah check semua kan. Result semua dah dapat so our plan today is kita nak decide lah nanti nak bersalin normal ke atau nak Caesar."

Diana continued with her counselling. "Untuk kes puan, memandangkan puan ada diabetes semasa mengandung, kita kena push awal sikit date bersalin. Risau kalau keadaan kat dalam tak sesuai untuk bayi. Lagi lagi sebab puan mengandung anak kembar."

She allowed a pause for the mother to asks questions. Clearing the patients doubt are inportant in helping patients to be involved in the decision making. Assured the patient is understanding well, she continued describing the options available for her. After the mother decided her delivery method, Diana put the patients decision in her record and dismisses her.

She had more and more pregnant mothers to consult for the rest of the day and the text from Ifkar was long forgotten.

Ifkar on the other hand after the morning round with his team, spend the day doing procedures and discussing cases. He was in the middle of doing peritoneal tap for an ascitic patient when his phone rings. Not wanting to contaminate the aseptic gloves on his hand, he let the phone rings in his pocket and waited until it subsides.

He continued wiping the area in a circular motion from the inside to out. The patient was draped well exposing only the procedural area. He injected local analgesics on the skin before placing the branula. Straw-coloured fluid aspirated. About 2L of it. After checking his patient vitals and was satisfied with it, he let his assistant took over. He went to wash his hands. Then he checks his phone.

Missed call from Wife. 1 New message.

A message from Diana. "Will be back late. Tak masak."

He scratched his scalp. Balik lambat tapi tak cakap pukul berapa. He wanted to talk about this morning. He thinks she is mad tapi tak tahu kenapa. He replied, "Pukul berapa ?"

Soon enough a reply came. "Tak tahu. Dinner dengan Hani."

'Laa dia dinner dengan Hani. Dah tu aku ?', a voice in his head vocalizing dissatisfaction.

Ifkar is not pleased knowing that Diana is still doing whatever she wants. She is his wife. She should ask for his permission. He never says no to her. She should at least tell him first. He didn't mind about her getting home late because of work.

But it is an entirely a different story now. She was behaving oddly this morning not talking to him. He thought it was because of her lack of sleep causing her to be grumpy. But she don't usually directed her anger towards him.

Ifkar is adamant that they need to talk. Diana ignoring him is not a situation he can tolerate.

"Dah tu abang dinner macam mana ?" He sent her a whatsapp with emoji sulky face.
