Hey guys! So here's a one shot I decided to write of Carla and Nick after they split. I hope you enjoy x

It had been a week since his world was turned upside down, a week since she had confessed to sleeping with another man, his chef in fact. Every morning on his way to work he would see her walking up the factory steps, he would often pass her in the street but no words or glances would be exchanged. Every lunchtime she would come in and distract him from the customers, sipping at her red wine and chatting to him about how much Aidan annoys her. This week there was nothing, she never showed her face, no red wine was ordered by her and no laughter filled the room from her, absolutely nothing. He had fired Robert, he never wanted him back in his kitchen again, his presence made him angrier than he had ever been towards somebody. As nick walked home he would look up at the flat he once called 'theirs' to see the lights on, the lights he only last week would switch off before 'they' went to bed. He entered his flat to find Sarah and Bethany filling their faces with food and hogging the television, nothing different there then. Every night when he entered his flat to see Sarah and Bethany he would think about the times when all 3 of them plus Carla would stay up late and fill their faces with chocolate and watch movies, now they haven't exchanged a single word or glance for a week. He's been going to bed early, sleeping off the pain, as his head hits the pillow his arm goes to the opposite side of the bed, the side carla would usually lay where her warm body would rest as he would gently rub her back. Now the side was cold, her scent was still strongly vivid on the sheets and her black singlet lay at the end of the bed. His eyes drifted shut and all he could see was her, her face, her body, the way she pressed against him when she wanted a hug, the way her lips pressed against his numerous times a day, but now, nothing, not a single kiss or hug was shared.

The morning came around slowly as he couldn't sleep, he has hardly slept this past week, he slowly wandered into his kitchen, the first thing he sees is Carla's sunglasses resting on the bench top. He poured himself a coffee, slowly sipping it down, trying to liven himself up as he felt like death. He went to open the blinds as he needed light, as his eyes adjusted to the strong light that filtered through his windows he noticed her, down on the cobbles, taxi parked and suitcases stacked to the side. Where was she going? Was she going on holiday? Was she running away from him? All sorts of questions ran through his mind but nothing seemed to make sense. She loaded her bags in the boot of the taxi, Michelle crossing the street to say goodbye. The pair held each other which felt like minutes to nick as he continued to stand by the window and watch. Tears streamed down Carla's face as she waved goodbye to her best friend, mascara stained her cheeks and her eyelids were red as it looked like she had been crying for days. As she made one last wave to Michelle she disappeared into the backseat of the cab, her ugg boots lifting off the cobbles into the taxi. Ugg boots? She only ever wore them around nick at home, where she would cuddle up to him when it was cold, he would remove them from her feet but she never wore them out on the street, why was she today? Was it because she was leaving or because her world was a mess and she didn't care how she looked? Questions that were yet to be answered in nicks head. He needed to speak to her, needed to understand what went on that one night, was she leaving for good? He rushed down the stairs out onto the cold cobbles but she was gone, her bags, her taxi, everything was gone. The notice board at the bottom of the stairs caught his attention, "flat for rent" read the note. He didn't read to much into it until he read the room number that was attached, 'flat number 12' his heart sunk into his feet, his body went into a state he had never experienced, it was like he had lost absolutely everything he had ever loved and cared about it. He slowly made his way upto his flat, passing hers before he entered his. Soon her flat will be occupied with someone other than her, someone he will probably never speak to. He fell onto his couch, tears filled his eyes and then BANG tears ran like rivers down into lap, staining his jeans wet. Why had she left without saying goodbye? Why couldn't they have spoken? Why couldn't of he been to see her? Why hadn't he forgiven her? Hundreds of questions circled his brain but now, he wouldn't get an answer as she was gone, he could text her, but she had just gotten a new phone a few days ago as he seen her with one outside the factory. He should've gotten her new number, he should've gone over one night and checked she was okay, he shou-, he knows he should've done so much more than he did because all he did was nothing, he couldn't bring himself to speak to her, to hold her, to even knock on her door because he knew they would have to speak about that one night that changed everything, changed them as a couple, changed what she thought of herself. Peter was the man that cheated on her and now she was the one that cheated on nick, nothing anyone would say would make her forgive her own actions.

Telling nick was the hardest thing she had ever done, she knew he would be devastated but she wasn't sure how things would end up but that was now answered. They were over, her bags were packed, her flat was up for rent and she was on her way to the airport. She didn't want to leave without saying goodbye but she couldn't face him, she hurt him and she knows that. LA was always the run away destination for her, the sun, the sea and the sand would calm her, would make her feel like herself again, nobody had ever made her feel like LA does apart from him, Gail platts son, nick. His body pressed against hers every morning, his gentle kisses, his cuddles that would last for hours, the laughs and tears they shared together, nothing could ever compare to what nick had given her in the 6 or so months they were together. Suzie always gave her a home, a place to stay when she was down, a shoulder to cry on when her tears wouldn't stop falling and a bottle of Californian red wine, her favourite from America, to soak up the pain from weatherfield memories. This time would be different, she would pull her self together, she would get herself a job, she would find her own place that she could set up life in, but one thing she wouldn't do is find another man, nick was the man she truly loved and to find someone else was something she could never ever do, not in a million years. As her plane took off Into the cloudy skies of manchester she felt sadder than she has since losing her baby girl in 2014, everything she loved was gone, she had been engaged to the most perfect man who gave her everything she ever needed, gave her something no man ever has and now, now she was flying to LA,  no Michelle, no Roy, and more importantly no nick. As her plane landed and she did all the check in business and carried her bags to her taxi outside, the warm air hit her face and she felt free, she felt free of the clostraphobic clouds of weatherfield but only one thing was missing and that was nick, she wished he was with her, breathing in the warm Los Angeles air. She made her way to a hotel where she would stay for a couple of nights before settling into her own apartment, an apartment which was unfurnished, she had to buy everything just like she did after the fire which ruined Victoria court. After that fire nick stood by her, helped her through so much and when it came to shopping for new furniture he was there. He helped her pick a coffee table, this time, she would have to find one on her own and she would have to use it on her own. she logged onto Facebook to find some pictures Gail had posted of Nick with Lily and max, a smile formed on her face, she couldn't take her eyes off the pictures as they were far more than perfect. They way he was with kids always warmed her heart, he was so gentle and kind and would always be calm with them. She studied him in the photo, his eyes were drooped, he looked like he had been crying, he was wearing the casual shirt he wore at Christmas, the Christmas they had just shared together and he wore a pair of black skinny jeans. She wished she was there with the kids and him but she wasn't, she was in a complete different country, starting a completely new life.

Sooooo, I've never really written sadder styles of fanfic but I thought I would give it a go so I hope you liked it. I was thinking I could do a one shot of when she comes back in 1 year. please comment your thoughts and don't forget to vote! The more votes I get the more likely I am to upload more one shots x
