Part 18 - Kid's day out

- 4 years later -

It was the first day of kindergarten. Jr and Saluna were eating their breakfast not talking at all. You were a bit worried so you decided to start up some conversation.

"So,are you two excited for your first day of school?" you asked with some enthusiasm. Jr was the first to answer.

"Mhm,I'm mamking friewmds." he said with his mouth full.

"What about you? Are you excited Saluna?" you asked her. She stopped eating,but didn't even look up at you. She stayed quiet for a moment then just continued eating.

"Hey,what's wrong,honey? You okay?" you walked next to her helping her off her chair.

"Are you guys ready?" Eren asked walking back in from starting the car.

"Yeah you can take Jr. I'll take Saluna later."

"Are you sure? If you take them any later then they'll probably be late."

"Yeah just go."

"Ok then." He said as he shrugged and grabbed Jr's hand. "I'll see you later,baby." He said as he gave you a small kiss and headed for the door.

"Bye mommy!" Jr yelled from the door. You smiled and waved at them.

Once they were gone you continued to talk to Saluna.

"Hey you okay? What's wrong? Something happen?" 

"No" she looked down "I just don't want to go to school.....not yet,mommy."

"Why? Are you nervous?"

"Tch,no I just...don't want to leave you or daddy! I don't want to go yet! I wanna see uncle Levi and play with Raelynn. Then go to buy ice cream with daddy and watch anime with you. Maybe even play tag with onii-chan."

'I do like watching anime and eating ice cream. I still remember how we would sit down,usually only me and Saluna,and just watch anime 'till our eyes burned from the screen and we fell asleep. Yeah they might of been too violent,but Saluna was really smart. Although she was 5 she had the brain of a 9 year old - she knew the difference from reality to fiction,and she loved the violence! Just seeing her face was hilarious - so concentrated and focused in 'aw'. Eren and Jr didn't like watching with us they thought we were insane for watching that,so they would just go play outside or watch something else in another room.'

"Honey you're not leaving forever. It's just for a couple of hours and then I'll pick you up and we can watch anime until your bedtime."

"Yeah,but what about Raelynn?"

"What about her?"

"You promised me she would go to school with me so I would have a friend."

'Oh yeah I forgot....I promised her so she wouldn't feel scared or alone. Of course being locked all day in a room with your face staring into a screen or your nose stuck in a book would make anyone unsocial....'

"Yeah,but she can't join you yet. She's still not old enough - she's barely 4. And seeing how overprotective your uncle Levi is I doubt she'll be going to preschool."

"But...you promised."

"I know I promised,but the thought she's younger than you slipped my mind. I'm sorry,honey."

"But mom I don't want to go! Everyone will make fun of me and say I'm weird!" she looked away again.

"No they won't. Just stay positive and try to make friends like your brother."
