Part 25 Come Back

*Jr's PoV* 

I was sitting at the lunch table with Mina and Raider. He was telling us a story about how he missed the bus and chased it almost for a block.

"I only gave up when I tripped over my own feet." he laughed shyly and Mina chuckled.

I laughed with them until I heard a familiar voice behind me.

"Hey Jr can we talk?"

I turned around I missed that voice. "Yeah. Private?" I asked him getting up.

"Um,yeah. Sorry for taking him you guys. It'll be fast." he said to Mina and Raider and they just nodded and waved him off.

We walked to the playground and sat at a bench under a tree. "Josh! What's up? Haven't seen you in a while...something happen?"

Josh seemed different. He looked uncomfortable,scratching his arm and biting his lip.He had dark bags under his eyes that I actually thought that might be make-up. He usually did act weird,but something was off about him.

"Nah,I'm okay." he stuffed his hands in his pockets. "Ken wanted you to stay away from me,right?"

"Yeah...? but I don't care what he thinks-!"

"No,Jr. You should." he stopped me from continuing sounding completely serious.

"Huh?"

"Me and Ken weren't ever really friends to be honest. So,it's not that Ken doesn't like you he's probably worried. Or somebody else is worried about you."

"What do you mean?"

"Just stay away from me,alright?" he said as he walked away.

"Hey! Wait tell me what you mean!"

I stared at his back as he walked away. Confusion and a bit of anger running through my head.

"He finally told ya." Somebody said behind me.

I turned around seeing Daxton. "What's he talking about?" I asked him

"Well he already told you not my fault if you didn't listen. Now you know. You should stay away from him."

"I heard him! I just want to know why I should stay away!" I was starting to get frustrated.

"You don't need to know. Just listen." he said not caring that I was shouting.

"Fine I'll listen,but I won't do what someone tells me to do when they don't give me a good reason."

"Geez, Jr. Didn't know you could be this hardheaded."

"Try me."

"Fine I'll tell you. He isn't a good friend - no - not a good person to be with. He just isn't right. Got it? Something about him isn't right."

"So what!? We're not perfect so why is he different? What's so bad about him!?" I was finally angry. If Raider taught me anything these past few weeks is that you don't judge people until you actually know them.

"Jr listen to me here. He ain't no good for you,okay? Remember on the first day? Didn't he destroy your drawing and take away your crayons?"

"Yeah? So what? It's not like that was the first time a friend's been mean to me."

"Yeah,but you gotta understand. That wasn't him. He wasn't himself at that moment. Why do you think he's been avoiding you since then? Cause he felt bad and didn't know how to explain himself. What was wrong with him? I couldn't even tell ya,man. So just listen alright. Just this once at least. I don't want ch'ya to get hurt."
