Niall’s POV

“What? She told me that they were on a trip somewhere” I told Danielle.

She shrugged, “Maybe it just hasn’t sunk in yet.”

I put my head in my hands, “she doesn’t have anyone, only Rachael, but Molly said that Rachael was going to be leaving for college soon. What is she going to do?”

Liam furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, “what do you mean ‘she doesn’t have anyone’, she has you doesn’t she?”

“Liam, I hardly even know her. I mean I’ve only meet her a week ago.”

“So you’re just going to give up on her, you’re just going to leave her like this!?” Liam was angry now, shouting loud enough to make the nurses glance at us with questioning looks. Danielle came over to him, and put her arm around his waist, calming him. “Don’t you think she’s lost enough, I mean look at her Niall, we aren’t even sure if she’ll make it, but she needs people who are here for her.”

There was a long silence, until a nurse spoke up, “she’s stable for now, but if you see her waking up soon, call us in so we can give her something so she stays asleep and stays comfortable.” She walked out then, writing something on a small clipboard.

“I just don’t think I’m the person she needs, Liam.” I whispered.

*2 Days Later*

It’s been a few days since Molly was in the car accident, and she hasn’t gotten much better. Her heart keeps giving out, but every time the doctors shock her, she comes back. They’re so confused, and so am I. They’ve told me that everything is healing up properly, her broken ribs are healing, as well as her concussion. Her cuts were slowly scabbing up, showing that they were getting better, but that she’ll be left with a few scars, even the one on the side of her face that ran across her cheekbone. They said her heart was healthy too, and that there wasn’t any reason that they could find that would make it keep giving out.

Rachael has been staying in Molly’s room with me for the past couple days. She explained to me about Molly’s parents. They died from their ship sinking in the Atlantic ocean, but before that, Molly had a very strange relationship with them. Her mother would always insult her, even in front of Rachael. And her dad would always ignore her, like he didn’t even know he had a child even though they lived in the same house.

Rachael also admitted that when she went to Molly’s house to get Molly’s clothes for while she’s in the hospital, that she found a journal. She’s been reading it the past couple days, and filling me in on certain points.

Yes I know it sounds horrible, but she’s been beginning to think that Molly’s constant health crisis’s are related to her being schizophrenic. I thought that that sounded too far-fetched at first, but last night Molly was talking in her sleep, and one thing she said suck out the most.

She said, “I don’t know what to choose, Mom”.

So that made me think, what if she’s with her parents at some points in her sleep, like they’re the voices she hears. Rachael told me that they would say terrible things to her, and Molly said that the voices were harsh and insulted her. So maybe they’re connected?

Footsteps echoed as someone entered the hospital room. I sat up in the chair I was sleeping in, pulling my skin off of the sticky surface and rubbing my eyes.

I recognized our new manager. He always gave off a creepy vibe, with his fancy suits but messy hair and stubble on his chin.

“Niall, we need to talk.” Was all he said before he walked back out into the hall.
