Molly’s POV
The bright morning sun beaming through the curtains woke me up. My hair was a tangled mess since I didn’t take a shower last night, and as I sat up it fell over my eyes. I reached over to my bed stand and grabbed a hair tie, quickly tossing my hair up into a loose bun.
Something vibrated under my pillow and when I flipped it over, I saw my phone and realized that I must have slept on it all night. Great.. I picked it up, excited to see if it was from Niall, but it was from my mother.
“Hello?”
“Hi darling, how is everything going at home?”
I rolled my eyes. This was the first time she’s called since her and dad both left last week to go to a vacation in Europe.
“Fine” I lied. I wanted to tell her about last night, about having another episode with the voices, about Niall, but like always, I didn’t. She would never know about me because I knew that if she ever found out, it would break her. All she’s ever wanted was a ‘perfect’ family, and a ‘perfect’ daughter. Not a depressed schizophrenic girl who cuts herself.
“Good. I need you to clean the house today, there’s going to be an electrician coming over around five p.m., and I don’t want the house to look messy. Be sure that the basement is clean and everything is out of his way.”
“Okay.”
“Alright bye”
“Bye-“
She hung up before I could finish. Sometimes I want to tell her just so she can feel sorry for how she treats me. So she’ll know that leaving be by myself all the time, telling me that I need to wear makeup, and telling me not to eat those extra snacks actually does affect me. But again, I don’t want to hurt her.
I dragged myself towards the bathroom and took a quick shower. The hot water was just what I needed. I held my head back and kept running my fingers through my wet hair, trying to fix my mind on what was going to happen now. Just because Niall called and I didn’t cut or commit last night didn’t mean that I was fixed. I might not ever be fixed. But it did give me some curiosity to what might come within the next few days. And that might be just what I need right now.
I got out of the shower and dried off, throwing on some sweatpants and a hoodie. I didn’t have any plans today except clean the house, so I didn’t feel the need to dress up.
Niall’s POV
We had an interview today at the local radio station. We got there around six in the morning and let me tell you, I was practically dead. I didn’t sleep well last night, maybe it was because I was worried about Molly, but I think I was also really nervous about today because I was going to ask her if she wanted to go to the carnival downtown with me. I really hope she says yes..
During the interview I was really spaced out. I answered a few questions but I think the interviewer got the message that I didn’t want to be there, and focused more on the other boys. I didn’t mean to sound rude, I was just thinking to myself. I wanted to get to know Molly more, and I hoped that if we went tonight, I would be able to see who she really is.
The interview lasted an hour, and afterwards we headed back to the hotel in the van. Once all the boys were piled in I dialed Molly’s number.
“Who are you calling now Niall?” Harry asked, giving me a cheeky grin.
“A girl.” I tried to hide my face as I felt it get warm.
“AWW! He likes someone!” Harry exclaimed, he knew me too well. “Who is she? What’s her name? How’d you meet?” All his questions ran together as he threw them out in one breath.
I chuckled, might as well tell them now since I was hopefully going to see her tonight.
“Her name’s Molly, she was at the signing yesterday and seemed like a nice girl.” Okay so I didn’t tell them the whole truth and of course, Liam noticed, but he kept quiet and just smiled.
The boys all awed, giving me a hard time.
“Do you think she’s the one?” Zayn asked.
“I just met her Zayn, and we only talked last night.”
“What’d you talk about?” Louis asked. Why all the questions? I wondered. And felt bad that I wasn’t telling them the whole truth.
“Just random things. She plays piano, and guitar…” I smiled again, “I’m going to ask her if she wants to go to the carnival with me tonight.” I tried to hide my red cheeks.
Liam spun around from the front passenger seat, “Do you think that’s a good idea? What if someone recognizes you, and you hardly know this girl!” As always he was being overly protective.
“I’ll just wear a good disguise, and exactly, I want to get to know her… but I haven’t asked her yet anyways.” I fumbled with my phone, twisting in between my fingers.
“Well ask her now!” Louis practically shouted, Harry joined in too, “yeah Niall just call her! Don’t be a wimp.”
They laughed. “Fine” I said, and searched through my contacts for her name. I could feel my heart thumping aggressively in my chest, what if she said no?
All the boys looked at me intently, as I listened to the line ringing.
“Hi Niall!” Molly’s voice rang out from the other side.
“HII-” Harry tried to shout but Louis clasped his hand over Harry’s mouth.
“Hey Moll, umm.. I was just wondering… are you doing anything tonight?” I felt like I was talking way too fast, but I talk fast when I’m nervous.
“I just have to clean the house, why?” She asked, I was sure I could see her smile through the phone.
“Do you want to go to the carnival downtown tonight.. with me?” There wasn’t even the slightest hesitation from her.
“Sure! I’d love too, I haven’t been to that carnival for a few years” she said excitedly.
I smiled so big my cheeks hurt and I could hear Zayn softly chuckling.
“Great! I’ll pick you up at six?”
“Sounds good! I’ll send you directions”
“Alright see ya later Molly”
“Bye Niall!”
I quickly hung up and let out a huge sigh, knowing that I probably sounded so awkward,
Harry patted me on the back then, “Looks like our little Nialler is going on a date tonight!”
The other boys laughed and joked around for the rest of the way back to the hotel. I was relieved that she said yes, but now I was beginning to worry for a whole different reason, what if I mess the date up?
