August's P.O.V

The pain was harsh, unforgiving. My shoulder felt like it was a flame. I grunted and tried to move into a more comfortable position. Not only was the pain a bother but the animal inside of me was agitated, annoyed.
I had sat and watched the girl, our healer, run from where I could observe her more. She continued to cause me to be curious about her and she left before I could discover more.

The wolf thought she might not come back, that she might leave us.
Thus causing my mood.

Most of my pack could sense that I was in a mood, so stayed away out of caution.
I watched as James finished talking with some of the pack members before coming to sit by my side.
"How are you feeling?" He asked, concern in his voice.

I snorted.
"It's feels like someone decided to take a piece of the sun and drip it into my shoulder."

James rolled his eyes.
"Forever the drama queen."
He picked up the bucket that the healer left behind, tilting it towards my lips.
"Here drink some water, it will make you feel better."

I greedily gulped the water down, dribbling half of it onto my chin.
James set down the bucket once I was done and leant against my tree.

"So, what's up with this?" He gestured to my face.
"What?"

He huffed
"Your fowl mood! I mean I know you just got stitched up without any pain killers but really, I don't know why would feel annoyed about being healed!"

I grunted in response, my eyes searching the trees for her to return.

James sighed.
"Seriously man, I know she's a bit different from the other humans but why are you so intrigued by her?"

I didn't reply for a minute, thinking.
"I don't know," I said looking towards James "she just seems...fascinating. Plus I think my wolf can sense something in her but I can't tell what."

James nodded, thinking on what I said.
He suddenly gave a small gasp, turning to me with saucers for eyes.
"I think I know what-"

Before he could finish, a loud growl was heard throughout the clearing. All heads snapped towards the sound.
I sighed in relief.
There, standing at the edge of the forest, I saw my healer.

She had changed out of her blood stained clothes and into some black genie pants and a loose white blouse. On her back she carried a large back pack and in her arms, she held a small fur bundle which seemed to curl closer to her chest.

Another growl was heard and it was then I noticed what was beside her.
An average sized Siberian Husky stood next to her, it's fur on end. It's ears were up sharp as daggers and its teeth were bared menacingly. It seemed it wanted  to attack but was restrained by the sleigh attached to its back. The sleigh held many blankets, a few pots and what seemed to be cans of food.

Nobody spoke, all eyes trained on the growling creature. Until the silence was broken.
"Okay," the healer whispered but in the silence it sounded like a shout.
"I would like to please ask everyone not to move until I say it's safe. Since Dash is a dog, he can sense the animals inside of you and the danger that you present. All he wants is to protect me but I believe I can calm him enough so he won't attack you."

The whole pack listened to her careful instructions and I watched in amazement as they did as she asked.
"Well that's a first, they would never listen to a humans requests without a fight." I thought

I watched on with the rest of the pack as she slowly put the bundle in her arms on the ground softly. It whimpered in response.

She then turned to the dog, Dash, and took a step towards him.

"Dash, listen to me." Her voice was strong, no trace of fear. The dogs eyes flickered briefly to her but returned to watching the pack cautiously.
"Dash, they won't hurt me. Listen to my voice, they won't hurt the pup either."

She had finally reached Dash and cautiously sat on her knees next to him. "Dash, listen to my voice." She slowly lifted a hand and brought it down between his ears. The dog tensed but soon relaxed as she drew closer to him, petting him gently.
He nuzzled her hand softly and seemed to realise that she was in no danger.
"Good boy." She said gently

We all watched in amazement as she calmed the nervous dog. She swiftly untied the sleigh from the dogs back and stood up slowly, waiting for a reaction. The dog looked at us warily but soon huffed and rubbed his head on the healer's knee.

She sighed in relief, giving a small smile.
She looked up to where everyone was still frozen and smiled reassuringly.
"It's alright, he won't bite your heads off. But I do suggest to try not approach him when I'm not here. He'll warm up to you eventually but we're not up to that stage of friendliness."
Everyone instantly relaxed.

The girl nodded.
"Okay, there are blankets and food on the sleigh, and in my bag there is more food and medical supplies. You all look a bit beaten up, so I would be happy to check you guys out."

Everyone stood still for a moment but then as if someone pressed play, they all dove into action, taking supplies from the sleigh and her bag. A few pack members went to discuss some of their minor injuries with her, as if she were just like us, apart of the pack.

I turned my head towards James, his face in a frozen form of shock. He turned to me, his eyes wide. I smirked.

"If the event that just happened wasn't enough to cause you to have an understanding of my interest in the girl, then I believe that you are sick my friend."
