"Mom, it's time to go."
"Maya? Is that you?"
"Yes Mom. It's me."
"Where's Justin and James?"
"They're in the garden with Dad. Let's go down to see them."
"Oh, Niall's here?"
"Yes he is."
"I haven't seen him in so long."
"You saw him last week Mom."
"Really?"
"Yes Mom. You just forgot. It's normal when you have alzheimer's."
"What? I don't have that. The doctor would have told me."
"He did Mom. Come on, let's go."
I got up and followed my daughter to the garden.
"Hey Mom. It's me, James."
"Oh James, it's good to see you. I barely see you anymore."
"You saw me last weekend Mom."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"Hey Mom."
"Justin? How's Aunt Pattie doing?"
"She passed away years ago. But Mom, I'm your son."
"Oh I know."
"Come on Justin and James. Dad needs to have some time with Mom."
They kids left and a man was standing there with a book in his hand.
"Hello, who are you?"
"I come to read to you every Saturday."
"Really? Do I know you personally?"
"We've known each other since we were in our late teens."
"Oh, ok. We can sit down and you can start reading if you want."
"Sure."
We walked over to a bench and he opened up the book.
"It was the year 2012, her senior year of high school. Her and her friend Emma were headed off to London for our spring break. They were going for two weeks and then coming back and graduating high school a few months later. Little did they both know that a simple trip to London for spring break would lead to a whole new world filled with friendships, fights, tears, celebrations, and most importantly, love."
"Who wrote this?" I closed my eyes trying to figure out if I've heard it before.
"My wife did."
"Is it based off of a true story?"
"Yes it is."
"She's a beautiful writer."
"Thank you. Now I won't be able to get through the whole book with you but I high lighted specific parts. Is that ok?"
"Yes. Maybe you can leave it for me to read the whole book one day?"
"Of course." The man smiled at me before he continued.
Now as she and Emma were headed to their gate a man slammed into her making her fall face first into her strawberry smoothie. And they found out soon after that the man and his obnoxious friends would be joining them on an eight hour flight. One of them actually had the balls to go up and speak to them. He still to this day, claims that he was trying to apologize.
