A soft Chiffon dress.
Flowing down my body.
Crystals on top.
Beautiful.
The theme for my wedding is 'Something old, something new. Something borrowed, something blue.'
"Christi?" my mom knocked on my door.
"Come in."
"Wow. You look beautiful." she said kissing me on my cheek. "What's you're something new?"
"The flowers in my hair." I pointed of the little flowers holding back pieces of my hair.
"Something borrowed?"
"Emma let my borrow her gold heart earrings with that little crystal in it." I showed her.
"And you're definitely wearing you're cleats?"
"Yes mom." I laughed.
We always had this ongoing joke about how I would get married in my soccer cleats. So, we went out and got blue ones to be my 'Something blue'.
"Have you figured out your 'something old'?"
"No but I'm guessing that's why you're here." I smiled at her through the mirror.
"You know how your father and I got married in Hawaii?" I nodded. "Well the night before our wedding he bought me this necklace." she showed me her beautiful Hawaiian flower necklace with a little flower pendant in the center of the bigger flower. "I wore in the next day in our wedding and I've never taken it off since. But, I want you to wear it. It can be your 'something old'." She started to tear up as she took it off herself and put it around my neck.
"It's beautiful. Thank you mom." I hugged her.
"Who's walking you down the aisle?"
"I know just the person."
I picked up the phone and called him.
"Yello?"
"Hey, I have a question for you. Can you meet me in my room?"
"Sure, I'm headed there now."
Soon enough there was a knock at my door. My mom had already left to go put the final touches on the bridesmaids in the room next door at our venue.
"Oh my god." he said walking in. "You look beautiful."
"Thanks."
"I can't believe my brother found you."
"Greg, I need a favor."
"Sure, anything."
"Can you walk me down the aisle?"
It took him a little while to answer.
"Christi, you know how much I already love you like a sister. And I know your dad passed away over the summer. I'm honored you asked me, but this is a real brother's job. I'm sorry but, PJ needs to be the one who walks you down that aisle to my brother. I don't want to take that chance away from him. I'm so sorry."
"Hey, it's fine. I knew it should have been him but I just couldn't bare the thought of asking him. It feels like just yesterday we were little kids and Sarah was coming home for the first time."
"If you want, I'll go ask him to meet you at the beginning of the aisle. If he refuses, I'll meet you there."
"Thank you so much Greg." I gave him a huge hug that he gratefully returned. He was just about to walk out before I stopped him with one more question, "How's Niall doing?"
